With the demise of Gawker, I’ve mostly stayed away. Not on purpose. Jezebel just hasn’t interested me enough to stick around. In the meantime, I’ve been having surgeries, laying around, you know.
Tomorrow I’ll be having my third and final cranioplasty. I’ve decided that this is going to be my last surgery no matter what I look like when it is over. I’ll consider it if my health is in danger, but I’m pretty tired of having my skull cut open and spending the next two months recuperating.
Up until today, the snappiness of Bobby Finger’s name had led me to consider that he may have been that guy that was on the Anna Nicole Smith Show.
I don't know how to or even if I can reply to the comment I shared just now on Crosstalk. But someone just recommended that comment I made in 2012. That's weird.
I had my final treatment last week. The six weeks ended up turning in to seven because the machine broke down twice, and then I just decided to take a personal day (by calling in and canceling because “we were having car problems.” Apparently it’s okay to miss a day now and then.
Mississippi House Public Health and Human Services Committee member emailed a mother suggesting she consider paying out of pocket the $2500 monthly insulin bill for her daughter when she asked for help with coverage under the state insurance plan for children.
I always imagine I will follow my favorite writers to their new homes. I think I have even said it in a few posts before.
Radiation is gentle at first, but the steroids will make you want to murder someone while eating something and then cry about it and feel nauseous after all the eating.
How are you? I am fine. Camp is fun. I miss you.
I’ve been in the hospital for 8 days now. I had to rush to the ER on Tuesday and have surgery early Wednesday morning because I had CSF (spinal fluid) leaking out of my nose and the CT found a bone they had restructured behind my eye was out of place.
It has been a while since I have written anything and there is a reason for that. A couple reasons. I still lack motivation and am constantly exhausted. I lay on the sofa most of the day watching television. I have at least gotten to where I will get up myself to get drinks or snacks instead of letting my parents do…
I had assumed at this point that I would have some sort of cancer wisdom. I’d be struggling but getting better every day and inspiring everyone around me.
Surgery didn’t go as planned. Nothing went wrong but they had to do a lot more than they planned. The tumor had over grown 75% into my skull at points. So now. I have titanium mesh in a large area and hip bone connected to my cheek bone.
I’m in the hotel across from the hospital. Tomorrow I wake up at 3:45, shower again with their crazy drying antibacterial soap (this time it’s made by Clorox, no lie), and check in at the hospital at 5 am.
My husband likes to play this computer game (Seven Days to Die) where you can collect things and build safe holds while facing zombies, zombie bears, zombie dogs, and some sort of mutant wasp - possibly zombie wasps, but that’s a little absurd. On the seventh day of the game a large horde of zombies come attack you.
I am very ready for 2016.
There’s really not much you can do when you can’t drive, have binge watched everything interesting, and can’t read because of double vision.
A few years ago AJ or Nick Denton or some iteration of bad man made a comment disparaging the livejournal nature of a lot of the comments, with Crosstalk posts held as an example. This was, of course, before the mass exodus to Clashtalk, where the majority of “internet friends” settled. Some of us stayed behind, some…
An Arlington, TX homeowner stabbed an intruder with a pumpkin carving knife after the suspect ran into the man’s home. The intruder had earlier stolen a car, stolen gas, wrecked the stolen car and then ran inside the Arlington family’s home.
