I run a gtx 670 and I have the exact same problem. Fallout New Vegas and 3 run like complete shit even though I’m able to essentially max out most games. I’ve reinstalled drivers, turned off mods, lowered settings; everything.

Totally agree! Although it might get a bit sticky when certain mods use other mods heavily. Hm.

Since when is it forced? You can upload your mod for free. In this case nobody will demand patches from you. If you can’t guarantee, that your mod will work as intended and stay combatible upload it for free.

I’m pretty surprised it exists as well; surely game publishers (especially larger ones like Bethseda) can’t be happy that Valve is not only getting a cut of their game and DLC sales, but is also now getting a cut for mods to their games.

Things already started going downhill with the introduction of in-game purchases. This is just another really sad nail in the coffin of the industry. Steam is slowly turning into a low-grade app store.
