By what metric is SF the 5th largest city in the country? By population, it is 17th (per Wiki). If you add the population of San Jose, you get to 5th, but that would be quite the reach, like calling DC & Baltimore the same city. Even adding Oakland gets you to 9th ahead of Dallas. And even if you consider Metropolitan

Ah yes, I love that driverless taxis are so functional that they sit in the middle of the road and won’t move for 15 minutes, that’s definitely my favorite part of any cab ride.

Yeah - Max wins every race. But if you’re willing to ignore him and follow the battles to finish 2-10, it’s a very compelling season!

…unlike America’s brand-spanking-new B-52 fleet…

too bad opel and it’s various rebadges don’t belong to gm anymore

$12K upfront and $200 a month? For something that doesn’t even do what it’s supposed to, and might kill me or someone else? No thanks.

I realize how not-aerodynamic it is, but the Honda Element would be a nice addition to the EV landscape. A small, yet extremely practical hauler that’s ready for adventure would be a hot seller, I think. As long as it’s not outrageously priced... which it probably would be.

GM can make a small little roadster like the Tesla Roadster and market it as a Fiero, or Opel Speedster/Vaxhaull 220

Oh, you mean drivers will have to help pay for the roads their overweight EV is destroying?
Seems perfectly reasonable as everyone driving ICEs pays for roads via gas tax.

Let’s be real here, if $200/year breaks you from driving an EV, you couldn’t afford it anyway.

It's a weird and strange time when a 90k car is considered low priced.

Adding all-terrain tires to a vehicle that will never see more than a washboard dirt or gravel road.  I see so many road vehicles with all-terrain tires and between the extremely high road noise and diminished fuel economy, I can’t imagine the rugged look being worth those negatives.  For all the Bronco Raptors I have

It’s always the answer: the NA Miata. Not the most recent example - but they nailed the look, feel and sound of the Lotus Elan. My understanding is that the Mazda engineers benchmarked a specific Elan and then designed a new car from the ground up to be the ‘new Elan’ - right down to ensure that the exhaust note was

IMO, the Ford Flex is a retro version of a 1970s I-H Travelall, right down to the white roof.

Man, I am sure glad that the dealership model is protected by state laws. They provide such great value.

Yeah. “Any depreciating asset that I can’t write a check for” is certainly not a bad policy, but if the prevailing situation is such that you can earn more on an investment than the cost of debt, then take the debt, and put the cash into the investment.

I won’t ostracize you for the comment, but I will point out you are in the EU and probably have access to vastly superior public transportation system and live in place where infrastructure investment isn’t confused with culture wars and the gender of your partner in life.

2) Much of New Mexico, Wyoming, Montana, North Dakota, Kansas, Arkansas

Personally, I think going full-EV is a bad idea and mandating it is an even worse idea. And I’m an EV owner. Getting rid of the pure-ICE vehicle isn’t a terrible idea, but not leaving room for efficient PHEVs and hybrids that better fit the needs of most American drivers is a huge mistake.

“on a scale from 1 to 10, how eager are you to pay for a subscription to the car you already own? with 1 being eager, and 10 being extremely eager...”

I guess you really are “that guy” how is this article in anyway “against EVs”? When the theme of the article is “Hey these aren’t selling well so maybe you want to think about taking advantage of a deal right now and ACTUALLY BUY OR LEASE AN EV”
