This whole exchange said so much more about Tom than Greg or his date. Tom has spent so much time observing how NOT to be that he can sense another’s social missteps before they even make them. There’s no way there were display-only hand towels in a Roy bathroom...Tom’s just speaking his own mid-Western middle-class

I’m with you.

I’m no expert...but I think he’s doing it wrong by using “thing” as a hashtag.

I got a high-rise full length pair via the $20 promotion more than a year ago, and have worn them regularly since. They are flattering, and stay put for any type of workout I do (including dance cardio, where I have to typically hitch up tights without drawstrings). And they have not shown signs of wear after over a

If Billy Bush is naming that exchange as abusive and inappropriate, it serves to highlight the fact that the instigator dismissed as locker room talk.

NO fashion lip sync video will ever beat this.

“Swamp-monster cabinet” works on so many levels.

You can actually play a version of ad libs with that type of story:

To be fair to Mark, he does a great job of parrying Bowie’s questions about how MTV basically ignored black people (err...as good of a job as one can do without just outright agreeing with Bowie). He manages to actually respond to what Bowie is asking (I’m picturing today’s equivalent making nervous glances to an

What a fantastic conversation! I liked seeing Bowie really engage the interviewer in a discussion about how race was represented in pop culture. It could be that it is all edited out today, but it’s hard to imagine a comparable conversation in recent years.

I had a similar thought when he says, “a story so far beyond the truth”. No outright denial, just minimization.

They don’t pay property taxes because their house has been deemed a “church”; however, a megachurch appears in some episodes. My best guess: for tax purposes, their official church is the house, while their de facto church is the one with the hands-free mics and fancy speakers.

I like that the early ads for the product are information-dense and explain the process in detail. It gives consumers the credit they deserve in considering whether they want to try an at-home pregnancy test or go the old-fashioned route at the doctor’s office.

I’m curious about how the model of J.Crew Mercantile will differ from J.Crew Factory. As I understand it, Factory clothes are not just undersold J.Crew stuff - they are manufactured specifically to be sold in the Factory stores, including online. I guess I don’t get why they would launch an entirely new branch instead

Sarah Waters is good! I read The Paying Guests and was so pleased with her writing that I immediately followed with The Little Stranger (which I loved for its eerie tone) and then Fingersmith. For anyone who likes Waters’ novels, I would recommend Diane Setters’ The Thirteenth Tale.

I put “Film Scores Radio” on Pandora when I’m studying or writing, and one of James Horner’s compositions for the Titanic score came up and I stopped working long enough to ponder what a great job he did. The movie would not have one-tenth of the epic schmaltzy glory that it does without that beautiful score.

When I was in my early twenties, my group of friends went out on Thursday nights to a sweaty dance party called... Dead Hipster. Side note, it was full of live hipsters. Anyway, I always worked the next day, and was able to pull it off by implementing my System:

I was imagining adult Robin myself, and only at the part where his dad was looking for him did I realize that maybe it was child Robin.

I kind of want to unpack what she said. That she said it at all suggests to me that she was not taking YOU seriously, which is antithetical to her stated position that her generation fought (won?) the battle.
