Nope, we're just old... really old.
Nope, we're just old... really old.
YEARS ago (when i first read DUNE) i was doing so specifically so i could learn more about the sonic weapons in the movie (that's just the kind of tech-geek i was as a kid)... so you can imagine my disappointment when the Weirding Way was just some kind of martial art. I still enjoyed the book, but i'd still love a…
Yup, ride a bike, be an individual! (just make sure you look like everyone else who rides, and follow all their opinions, and ostracize and mock anyone different...)
Came here to say this (and Callahan's)... beautiful cover btw!
This is fucking brilliant. Best idea for a reboot i've heard yet.
I agree about the blonder, definitely, but i though the shot of him in the torc and flow-y skirt thing near the end of the movie was perfect.
I gotta agree. QotD gets a lot of (deserved) hate, but Townsend was an awesome Lestat.
That was my feeling EXACTLY.
"you're crudding up the comments page"... i frequently find Ugg's shtick to be pretty funny, and when its not, its at least innocuous. You, however, have always seemed like a giant douche to me. Just goes to show that one man's crud is another's treasure i guess.
Holy crap, this is GOLD. Well done, and thanks for the laugh!
Jumping in rather late on this but i gotta say that two of the most important books (well, series) when i was growing up were the Riftwar books by Raymond E. Feist and the Amber Chronicles by Zelazny. Pug and Corwin, all the way.
Holy crap, its Van Eck phreaking for the BRAIN. We're getting more and more sci-fi by the day and i LOVE it.
As someone who is just getting around to playing Red Dead (i'm almost as behind the times as you my friend), this totally made me spit-take. Well played Ugg, well played. (also, not sure when you got a star, but it is RICHLY deserved)
My feeling about Shane is that he's a great survivor and a shitty human being. He should go forth on his own, and probably do quite well, and leave the group stuff to people who are trying to hold onto their humanity. Shane was a stereotypical (literally, as this show has no idea how to draw a nuanced character)…
"presumably he was a decent person once"... go back to the pilot and watch his opening dialogue and tell me if this guy was ever a decent person. Seemed a-grade douche-bag to me. And just 'cause he was good enough to Rick for them to be friends doesn't mean he was decent to anyone else. We all have that one friend…
Your opinion is widely shared, hence why i was remarking that it was so nice to see someone else, other than me, think that those characters are crap. I find the Governor to be an "adult" (read: violent and rapey) version of cobra commander from G.I. Joe and I think Michonne is every 15 year old boy's ideal version…
So did you buy it? And, if so, what do you think? Candyfloss and razor-blades, or just over hyped crap?
I am so glad i'm not the only one who feels that way about both the Governor and Michonne. Everywhere i go its all "the Governor is badass!" and "Michonne is the best character ever!" and i'm always left with this really weird taste in my mouth. I mean, as you said, the Governor is a fucking cartoon bad-guy and…
I can't STAND the Dresden books (bad prose, cliche story, 1990's misogyny, etc.) and i LOVE Sandman Slim... but then i love visceral, ugly, dirty books, and this is like that, but with popcorn and cotton candy.
