Having owned a third gen and now a fifth gen 4runner, go for it, they are awesome.  Reliable, tough, durable and charming in their own truckish way.  Only downside is they retain value strongly through 200k miles, so entry costs can be higher.  Oh and rust can be a issue 3rd gen and older, so inspect accordingly.

I thought you did a nice job discussing this during the TST Podcast you did with Matt Farah.

The Problem for the Land Cruiser is the 4Runner popularity and price point. TRD Pro’s for the dirt, rather nice Limiteds for the plush life. And the Sequoia fills the “oh lawd he’s a coming” segment well enough.

I lot of deserving shade was through at Sato for his idiotic move- is he a pay driver or something?

Honestly that looks like the “not getting hurt for this dumb scrimmage” levels of common sense low safe efforts, especially in light of the Boogie news.
