No kidding. Why not return seat pitch to what it was a few decades back? That would reduce the load and give passengers more legroom. I’d say this problem was their own making (really, really tiny violins).

Oh yeah, and also- and this gets overlooked- but China has a HUGE number of underground coal seam fires. Those are impossible to put out and can burn for 100's of years. 200 MILLION tons of coal burn in these seams every single year and none of it of course is treated. Its just raw smoke.

Meanwhile China has more coal-fired power generating capacity currently under development than the rest of the world combined.  They can say whatever they want about emissions control, and trust me they will, but at the end of the day growth and development will always trump public concerns about pollution.

Back-feeding a house with a generator during a power outage without an appropriate cut-off switch pushes electricity onto the surrounding grid; if anyone is working on the power lines nearby they could get seriously injured or killed.
