But past Resident Evil projects have leaned on “hey we have these monsters from the games!” before and still not managed to reliably offer something as compelling and often as camp as to what made the Resident Evil games so beloved in the first place, so time will tell if this latest riff will be able to deliver.

I feel like Umbrella is the petroleum company of zombie viruses.

I thought they did a pretty good job of trying it out in Eternals. One of the brighter spots of that film.

I wish they would just come out and say it. The comic-level stretchiness would look absurd in live action and the action scenes would require almost as much CG as Hulk. (not saying I wouldn’t love to see it that way anyway!)

Yeah, but those are the super double secret probationary canon shows. We don’t talk about them when discussing the MCU at large.

Is this the plot to Doctor Strange 3? Is it a new Avengers movie? Loki season 2? We aren’t sure.

That’s a very Reed Richards thing to do.

Not only did they miss that final scene, but Germain didn’t even mention it, which is even weirder since the tone contrasts pretty sharply with the mid-credit bit.

...and entirely on-brand for Tony Stark.

You can skip What If, but WandaVision is pretty damn important. Also, WandaVision is one of the better things to come out of the MCU in some time, so you won’t begrudge watching it.

Knowing what I know about Anakin now, I think he’s just being petty as fuck.

Unless Gadget is the person collecting the body parts!

I really hope this Batman sequel isn’t another “Batman vs Joker” movie. The Joker’s just been done to death, IMHO. I guess I’m fine with him showing up in Arkham, in a Hannibal Lecter-esque role, like he did in this recent movie, but if they try to make him the primary antagonist again, I’m going to punch a puppy.

THAT’S THE ONLY WAY WE GET LOCKJAW BACK DANGIT

I want Black Bolt there.

Meh. I liked it better when the “it was totally not an Easter egg setting up the next movie we swear” was just a playing card.

Actually the Joker didn't need to be in the movie at all. And they really could have trimmed an hour off of that thing just with some editing. Every single shot doesn't need to be a long pan of Batman looking Batman-y (though he does look good in this film). But this really should have just been Riddler's story.

Whenever I’m describing this film to anyone I want to watch it, I always call it the ‘ultimate’ horror film, because to my mind it fits both definitions of the word, and manages to forever change how you view any other films in the genre, even ones that haven’t been made yet. Even if I genuinely can’t understand how

This and Trick ‘r Treat are part of our annual October spooky-season movie watchlist, even though we skipped it last year because *motions wildly at everything*. They both stand up incredibly well for horror films from a decade+ ago (Joss Whedon notwithstanding).
