For some reason, that’s the only Family Ties episode whose plot points I actually remember.

More likely because the Kremlin needed a prominent gay or bisexual member of Congress to add to the list, and perhaps her name just came up first. Kind of like how Hans Gruber was name-dropping random terrorist groups when he made his list of demands.
Both of them seemed like they were young about 5 minutes ago. Jermaine currently almost looks like he’s decided to skip middle age.
It would seem a stretch to say the AVClub “hyped” the movie. More accurate would be “gossiped about the making of”.
I would say everything I know about this film comes from the AVClub, and almost all of what I knew (prior to reading this review) was about the back-stage drama, rather than the content of the film itself.
Please, Disney, hire him to write the songs for an animated film.
Which always confused me.
Yes, but no “new” balrogs arose after the First Age, and they were all servants of Morgoth, not Sauron, who was essentiall of the same rank as they were originally.
If I recall, after the final battle of the First Age, Sauron was captured and taken back to Valinor. He actually did attempt a genuine contrition, but his pride and lust for power got the better of him. I don't think any Tolkien source states exactly when and how he returns to Middle Earth.
And even Melkor just thought he was making things better, at least originally.
I forget which one, but Tolkien specifically describes one of the three groups of Hobbits as having brown skin.
Especially when the original story barely exists in the first place.
“They call me either Ganduman or Saralf, depending who wins in the writers’ room”.
Peppers are less common in the Philly area, but you do see them offered, and they tend to be cherry peppers. Once again, if we’re using Pat’s and Geno’s as our default arbiters of what should and should not go on a cheesesteak, I’m pretty sure I remember each having hot peppers as an option in their self-serve…
Ah, thanks for clearing that up.
I haven’t watched it yet... but what’s the point in making Feanor her father? Her actual father decided not to join the Noldor revolt (or turned back at the last minute, I don’t remember the details), and continued to rule the remnant of his people in Valinor. I would think there’s a nice gem of a story about children…
I’m just one Tolkien fan-boy, but let me say this. The basis for this show in Tolkien’s own writings consists of outlines, brief historical reports, half-realized ideas, letters to friends, family trees, etc. and because neither he nor his estate ever wrote a finalized narrative on this period of Middle Earth, there…
Plus... 1. Morgoth’s wars weren’t directly against Valinor, it was against anyone who opposed him in Middle Earth.
Smaller servings maybe?
At least, the Chicago dog is one of the best ways to eat a hot dog, so I will give them that. But that doesn’t invalidate other toppings, ketchup included.
