The book is somewhat longer than that. The basic idea is much, much shorter. Gladwell is a master at making something simple and obvious seem complicated, then simplifying it again in his own way and implying that he’s discovered something brilliant and original.

Actually he took the idea of 10,000 hours from other (real) intellectual type people, and in the process misunderstood the results of their study.

Yeah but still.

I think Malcolm Gladwell would argue that since there are birds in Nigeria, Larry Bird is actually on the Nigerian team.

I know. Saying ‘turning the wellworn phrase “The Tipping Point” into a 10,000-word book’ just doesn’t quite have the same effect.

GLADWELL: Just try and come up with a team that beats that, under my categories.

This is what middle managers think smart people sound like.

The other 77% is 100% Krustofsky.

I think most people have realized that Gladwell isn’t nearly as smart as he tries to present, but I’m always struck by how, in spite of this, Bill Simmons still sounds completely, intellectually overmatched when they talk.

I still can’t believe this asshole has an incredibly lucrative career because turned the phrase “practice makes perfect” into a 10,000-word book.

Can 23&Me explain what the fuck happened to the other 77% of him?

1.) Way to prove my point.

Standard reply to the “but he’s a distraction” bullshit:

Nathan Peterman will still get signed by an NFL team before Colin Kaepernick, and millions of fuck heads will argue that it’s because he’s a more traditional, pro-style pocket passer than Kap was, despite all the evidence to the contrary.

I like how he makes it clear that he’s talking about every single millennial EXCEPT the two he wants it not to apply to.

Don’t get me on politics.”

I’m talking about every millennial young person. Generation Z, I think is what they call ’em.

Mike Gundy gets paid $5,000,000 per year to coach football at a public university.

well, I’m off to reddit to see how the racists will try to flip this into some backward “well, was he looking threatening? because if I were in that situation I would have done _______”

The NRA is going to be SO ANGRY when they find out the cops shot a good guy with a gun oh man I can’t wait to hear this epic takedown
