The free throw is (IMO) one of the biggest flaws in basketball. I don’t know what a better penalty would be for a foul, but stopping the game so a player can stand at the line and take 1, 2, or possibly 3 free-throws brings the game to a screeching halt. I don’t like the constant stopping.
