At the time Milos Foreman was casting his filmed version of Amadeus, Mark Hamill has just taken over the lead role from Tim Curry on Broadway, to generally favorable reviews. He tested for the part, but Foreman ultimately wanted to cast unknown actors and thought audiences wouldn’t be able to get past the fact that

Any brand combination of bread, jelly (but only grape, please), and peanut butter (preferably chunky) will do for me. But the iron-clad requirement is a glass of milk set in the freezer for a few minutes before the sandwich is eaten. I’ve fed a PBJ to my dog after making one and then discovering we’re out of milk.

Oh, man, that Clone Wars cartoon is soooooo good. Their take on the old Mean Joe Green Coke commercial with Mace Windu is one of my favorite bits.

I’m imagining it will look like Lex Luthor’s lair in Superman: The Movie.   If it doesn’t, I don’t want to know about it.

You’re right.  The incinerator scene alone I thought should have gotten the movie a PG instead of a G.   But the torture scene in Cars seemed more gratuitous.   Plus my kid was older for Toy Story 3 and 4 so it was easier for me to see my way past it.

The complaints about the acoustics and the cavernous interior is odd because it’s not like the interior has to be pyramid-shaped just because the exterior is. We were in there a couple of months ago (drove to Memphis to hit IKEA and figured what the hell) and there’s a restaurant at the top, so it’s not like they

Question because I’m too lazy to look it up: has there ever been any investigation into whether the faculty of these schools were paid off to improve the grades of these students after they were (illegally) admitted?  I mean, if they didn’t have the grades to get in in the first place, it stands to reason that they

Oh, yeah, it’s great. I especially liked the part where the bad guy cars torture and kill a good guy car. And the way my five year old slept in our bed for a week afterwards was so cute! I guess the only good thing is that it freaked him out so much, it didn’t enter into his regular eternal rotation the way the

The quote makes it seem like the plan is to recast Rickman’s role.

The Luke/Leia scene gets me, too. There is a theme John Williams wrote for Return of the Jedi for them as brother and sister. It’s always been one of my favorite pieces of music from the OT and it never gets used much. The concert arrangement doesn’t get played at concerts often and I thought it was a waste of a

Three things come immediately to mind that absolutely destroy me no matter how many times I see them:

Same here. Dark World is easily the worst of the MCU, but it still got a big call-back in Endgame. Hulk seems like the one that gets acknowledged the least. Aside from reusing William Hurt in Civil War, there aren’t many references to it in the other movies. It’s a shame, too. I would love to see Liv Tyler

Absolutely. I had to check it and see if if was the same cabin. It wasn’t, which seems like a wasted opportunity to at least acknowledge the forgotten bastard of the MCU.

I’m a healthcare worker, although I’m not patient-facing.  One of the hospitals we service opened vaccines up to employees of their vendors for a couple of weeks in January.  It quickly closed, but anyone who got the first shot in that time period was still able to go in and get the second one two weeks later.

I got the second shot a few weeks ago, and while my local theater (a Regal) is still closed, I’m still not going anywhere near it until at least the summer even when it does reopen.   Did I mention it’s in a mall?   Yeah, no thank you.

I can’t say enough good stuff about that nonprofit.   I donate to it every chance I get.

I have a very specific memory of being taken to the local health department to get my shots and seeing this poster. Probably in ‘78 or ‘9. I would have been 5 or 6. I remember sitting with my mother and little sister in a hallway waiting for our turn and staring at the poster on the wall across from me. It’s funny how

I’d say it was done on purpose so they can get points for being outraged at the libs making fun of her, but I don’t know if anybody there is that clever.

Jesus, that’s haunting.  It looks like photo evidence from a war crimes tribunal.

I’m ready for Season 2 of The World According to Jeff Goldblum. Although I’m guessing the whole global pandemic thing probably put that on the back burner. A big part of the show was him attending big fan events that focused on whatever he was curious about that episode.
