I think it’s all down to the setting. If you’re at an automotive event, whether it’s C&C, or autox, or a full on professional race it’s 100% kosher to wear as much branded clothing as you want. However if you’re just running errands around town or worse going out to dinner or going to a bar, you should 100% not be

This just goes to prove that old adage about a fool and their money. I wouldn’t pay $15,000 for a Honda Civic. Let alone $15,000 over MSRP. If I were in the market for a small fast hatchback I’d buy a FoRS and a used FiST for the same amount.

Ah the xlr....to borrow from Bill Engvall: this car is just 15 deg off cool.

I love the way this car looks, and I would quite likely buy one except for one thing that I can’t quite get around. It’s the Ultimate first world complaint:

Its impossible with current technology, MAYBE in 20 years electric cars will be possible at le mans. But think about how many battery swaps would be needed over 24 hours. Also the formula E cars are super slow by racecar standards which is a good bit of the reason they don’t use regular race tracks.

I imagine he would just to be competitive...he just has to find a way around the FIA regs

Alonso is currently trying to find out who he needs to bribe to make that happen

Alanso is currently trying to see if the Mclaren mechanics can find the ‘14 spec Mercedes engine and have it discretely installed in his car....

It’s not weird. It’s race on Sunday, sell on Monday.

I hope Porsche quits. With no Porsche LMP1 fails. If LMP1 fails WEC has to rethink things. Then maybe we get a return of a class that runs Hypercars like the P1, LaFerrari, 918, Konigsegg, Pagani, etc.

Well see the problem with your reasoning is this: the 911 Turbo S isn’t a track toy. Yes if you only want a track toy then the ZO6 is hard to argue against, although I would say that the Cayman S is a better option as its all the car most mortals can handle on the track.

Right! The only reason that anyone would ever buy a Ferrari or Mclaren or Lamborghini is because they want to show off, and simply can’t justify spending 200k for a car that to the random person on the street looks exactly like the version that costs 100k less. But on straight value the 911 is unrivaled.

I had my 996 Turbo up to 200 a number of times when I had it. It’s an incredible feeling. Better than sex. Well that’s a lie, but it’s a close 2nd. I totally understand the hook of being a professional racecar driver. Even back in the early days of F1 when drivers died all the time.

Why not tune it?

Yep, my first car made ~130hp when it was new, which if I remember correctly is still less than the gain you get with just a tune on the Mclaren. I think just a tune will get over 700hp.

Top trim 911 Turbo S is around 191,750 before you start adding options....but being modest and getting only the most essential options like a paint matched key pushes it to 208,750.

Mclaren has 2 cars: the P1 which is a hybrid hypercar and the baby P1 which goes by 4-5 different names and doesn’t have hybrid.

Especially when you consider that it has basically the same engine as the 675. Slap a tune on that bad boy and you’re talking about a seriously fast car. This will also cause the MP4-12C prices to tank even further. If you can find a warranty or stomach the risk for insane repairs the MP4 is already an incredible

Oh wow, I love the BBS’s! Yes they are lovely cars! Certainly not fast, but tons of fun and very rewarding to drive!

It would be interesting no doubt! But I think he’ll want to get at least another 2 years of F1 before he tries another series full time.
