You’d be surprised at how many infrastructure systems are running what is considered archaic programs/code. The reliability is just there sometimes... It was built in the 70's, it still works, no one knows realllly “how it works” anymore, so you just leave it.

My company uses a POS system that is over 15 years old still. We might upgrade to something a little more modern in the next year, but we said that last year too.
