I’ve seen both versions of Highlander 2 and can definitely say the Renegade Version is better.... but that still doesn’t mean it’s particularly good. It just goes from an incoherent mess filled with weak story and hammy acting to a slightly more coherent mess filled with weak story and hammy acting.

To a lot of studios, whether or not a movie is good is irrelevant. Whether or not it makes money is what matters. Movies that make money get sequels because those sequels also make money. What you or I think about a given film is not part of that calculation.

It would appear Gilgamesh is a “build your own” figure. You have to buy all the others to complete Gilgamesh, because Thena gets you the head, Ikarus the left arm, etc... A gimmick I thought had been abandoned years ago due to it’s sheer stupidity, but apparently I’m not in toy marketing for a very good reason.

Since the number of stories where the heroes die is somewhere under 0.0001%, I don’t buy the “suspense” argument about prequels. Yes the hero wins. You’ve known the hero was going to win going into nearly every story you’ve ever been told, and prequels don’t really change this.
