The problem with that cartoon, of course, is that the sign that protestor is holding is still dumb until all (or most of) those things around the police actually work... and some of those things only ever seem to work on paper.

I don’t disagree. I think more crime and violence happens in poorer areas. Poverty also fosters a lot of other social issues that perpetuate the cycle of poverty, crime, broken families, and arrests.
