The reason is simple. Phones can be used to trigger bombs. It can be used to transmit and receive and then set off the bomb. It can be used as a standalone timing and detonation device. It can set fires. It can be used to coordinate an attack. It can track a plane.
Interesting project. However the amount of power available will be impractical since batteries are easy to come by and provide much more usable power.
