I think you’re both right to some degree, but Universal did produce The Incredible Hulk and likely had zero interest in helping Marvel’s MCU plans (with other companies).

It’s the Wii (and Wii Sports) of movies. It was revered for its innovation and made a ton of money, but it lacked depth and was quickly forgotten and moved on from.

I’ll add to what others have said about a pretty clear reason this show is failing. Preacher, and many of AMC’s other shows, are targeted to a younger (20-30's) generation, yet are only available on cable. Cable viewership is still high, but is incredibly low in that demographic.
