Why?
Why?
Once more, with feeling: the Nazis were not socialists, nor were they left-wing. Fascism is, was and always has been an authoritarian (totalitarian, even) right-wing political ideology. Here’s an article posted just this week on the subject by one of the most centrist publications going: http://www.newsweek.com/nazis-d…
Having read some of the other comments, it’s worth remembering the above goes for white nationalists too, ya bums.
If you have Nazi leanings, the history of comics fucking hates you. There are are at least eleven men, eleven Jewish men who are key to the progression of this business:
I feel ya, friend. The DCU is a poorer place without the Starman mythos. #BringBackStarman
Hold on... surely the big news here is that Will Payton, aka the 6th hero to be called Starman in the DCU, is a confirmed part of the post- New 52 canon?
True? That’d require some facts and you’ve got none. Don’t you think you should know better than to buy into that obvious BS?
Honest? No, think you’ll find you’re being astonishingly bigoted. Jewish people “are heavily promoting mixed couples” and “are heavily promoting the wonders of homosexuality in the black community” are such ridiculously awful statements, all they do is show off how prejudiced and phobic you are.
Yours is not a voice…
If you sincerely believe in a religion - *any* religion - you are dumb.
According to Bleeding Cool, the current terminology is “tights & fights” 😉
Great picks! Have you ever considered writing a piece on just how far Image has come as a publisher, in terms of the quality at range of its output, from its original ‘90s conception?
Agreed... although it was all our first time to read it at one point! Just, y’know, normally before you start blogging about it ;-) It’s def on the required reading list, along with Watchmen, Dark Knight Returns, The Sandman, V For Vendetta, Preacher and a few more from the ‘80s and ‘90s.
Only it isn’t. That accolade belongs to Moore’s earlier work, Miracleman (née Marvelman).
Spot on (...if you’ll pardon the pun).
Liberia?
This is not about feeling superior to others, or virtue signalling. Like I said, I think Danny Rand being mixed race would bring an extra level of depth to the character sadly lacking in his original form. I am all for change, if it means better stories. After all, without change, we’d have never got Crisis on…
Is whiteness defined only by a history of murder and persecution? Sure, all other aspects of white culture may be inescapably tainted by all that murder, persecution, exploitation, enslavement, appropriation, subjugation, hypocrisy etc., but that doesn’t (and won’t) stop people from feeling proud that…
An intelligent and cogent response if ever there was one. You cannot seriously tell me that Danny Rand wouldn’t have been more interesting as a mixed race Asian American with conflicting notions about his heritage than as a cliched “white savior” trope.
...and never should’ve been in the first place. It’s just embarrassing. Danny Rand is walking, talking cultural appropriation. I mean, just look at his outfit, fer crissakes!
