Well I’m guessing chick just as an abbreviation of chicken, nothing French there, but Fil-A is the way to write filet and make sure people pronounce it vaguely correctly ...

Now if we can only make egregious Frenchified misspellers Chick-fil-A go the same way ....

But that’s a tradename, fancy misspelling and all. Used in a sentence, grammatically, it’s cachet.
