I was 17, and by that time I’d worn out our self-copied VHS tape of The Terminator. I grew up on Conan the Barbarian. Used to run around the yard shirtless and do the Ah-nuld scream (Yah-us-ah-us-ah!) and swing plastic swords. All the neighbors probably thought I was special. So a new Arnold movie was a no-brainer.

Not Terminator, but my mom unexpectedly picked up my brother and I to see Return of the Jedi on opening day. It was the only time something like that happened.  Best day ever.

5 years ago I moved to Florida, Orlando, from the Middle of Ohio.

The only problem I have with the park is that I don’t want to see Batuu. I get that Disney wants to create a new world for people to experience, but I have no connection to Batuu as a Star Wars fan. I’m just wondering why they didn’t decide to create a hub where you could see Tattooine (Mos Esley), Coruscant,

So how hard will it be to sneak away in the falcon to make space babies?

I’m so excited to go to Disneyland in 2022 when the crowds for this finally become relatively manageable.

This might be the closest we’ll get to a “Westworld”-ish immersive experience at a theme park, at least for the near future. I’m ready for it

Some of my favorite essays/commentaries deal, eloquently, insightfully, with the rewarding moments we get to experience, even if rarely, when we are a fan. Thanks for a great read!

Yah, go ahead and ignore this dude. Our girl Meredith Woerner went on to site-lead of LA Time’s Hero Complex and is now an editor for Variety. io9 staffers have mostly fuckin’ killed it here before going on to get great jobs in the mainstream media industry.

I agree with everything you said, except for the part about Wreck-It Ralph not having the “cultural cache to challenge Mario Cart”. Given that Wreck-It has access to all Disney properties (while remaining in-canon), it would be the perfect setting for a Smash Bros. style kart racer. I know a crazy amount of people

So they reference Saint’s Row, yet they don’t mention the musical number IN Saint’s Row’s DLC: Gat out of Hell?

Wait... Didn’t Saints Row already have a Disney Princess song?

Wing Commander was later. It was the second trailer. And the theaters announced “No Refunds”. They were onto us by then.

I got to work early. Five of us shared a computer so I started downloading the trailer and put a sign on it that said “DEBUGGING. DO NOT TOUCH!” Then we all watched the trailer about 10 times over lunch. When I got home, I downloaded it there, too (over dialup!) and watched it the next day, several times a day, for
