Bingo. This is the correct take. I feel like a large segment of the fanbase can’t distinguish between an actually good star wars movie and a star wars movie that looks good because the one thing Disney can do is throw gobs of cash at sets. Rogue One looks great because Disney spared no expense on sets, special fx,

She was not.

Agreed. She’s just not a great actress, and she doesn’t exude the charisma or charm necessary to make for a particularly memorable character. I found her role to be utterly forgettable, and I feel like if you told people who saw Solo back when it came out that there was going to be a Disney+ show based on Qi’ra 95% of

It’s a different kind of story being told in a different way on a different medium. I doubt very much that the movie will be in any way tonally similar to the CW show, so presumably the Supergirl in the movie will be very different than the Supergirl on the TV Show, which in turn makes it pretty logical that they

The most recent Mission Impossible movie was possibly the worst perpetrator of that kind of ridiculousness I’ve ever seen. Ving Rhames had that scene where he’s tearing up while explaining to Rebecca Ferguson that Tom Cruise came out of retirement because he realized he was the only person alive who could keep THE

Agreed. The argument people always make about how this is “hypocrisy” or “stupid” that I’ve seen is “well, if the article was so unimportant, then why did you click on it?!?!” But that argument relies on an assumption that people literally know everything about an article BEFORE reading it. If a reader trusts The Root

Trademarked!!

Who said they can’t wear masks?

Bingo. 60 inch plasma over here (gonna upgrade to OLED probably later this year) and SONOS surround setup that’s pretty dang great, but there’s no way it can compare to the theater experience. I go probably about as often as you do. While you and I are definitely outliers (I don’t think the mean/median visits to the

Lol, I’ll take your word for it. In that case, I’ll limit my laughter to just your hilarious statement about strawmanning *shrug*

Lol, I don’t know what I enjoyed more about that- the fact that you even said it (it’s like you haven’t even read your own past comments) or that you’re up at 2:22 in the morning saying it.

Lol, the irony of how you got so upset at others for strawmanning while you engage in pretty much ONLY strawman arguments in response to my comments is legitimately funny. You do do pal :)

Again, that’s the point I made about Batman that you willfully ignored- merely because it involves a character from one of the prior iterations of these stories doesn’t mean it’s directly related to any of them. Your own point is contradictory- you are actually acknowledging that there are multiple different versions

Good god almighty, your insistence on arguing in this comment thread is almost impressive- you’re now responding to comments that have nothing to do with you and which you apparently are incapable of following the thread on.

You’re either deliberately misreading what those w0rds mean or you’re obtuse- I honestly can’t help with either problem.

It’s a minor quibble. I think there’s a better version of the movie that exists where it’s a bit more streamlined and tighter, but the runtime itself wasn’t a huge detriment IMHO. And the pacing was solid to where you didn’t really notice the long runtime.

I love that this guys response to your point that alternate stories have existed forever by saying “but you can’t do that in movies! Only in comics!” while simultaneously arguing that this movie WHICH LITERALLY DOES THAT can’t be doing that because it’s a movie. It’d be like someone saying “no human being can run a

You do realize that a) this movie isn’t a cartoon, and b) it doesn’t feature any talking dogs, right?

The point...

In what ways? Has Disney said this is a direct prequel to the actual cartoon that came out 60 years ago? They tease a literal sequel here that would tell that story- it’s very clear that this is not intended to be a direct sequel that leads into that telling of the story from decades ago. It is its own thing, and very
