To be fair we don’t get to see exactly how much time occurs between dropping off l’rell to become new klingon empress and the events of discovery’s epilogue. I know its not likely to be years, but it could easily be months given the debrief required from the spore-drive, mirror universe, insight into the new klingon…

However the federation doesn’t get to see the klingons outside of those primary emotions until much later than discovery.

Actually scotty turned the transporter into a shit version of suspended animation by dumping his matter stream into the pattern buffer then forcing a cycling diagnostic procedure on the pattern buffers so they never empty, the process isn’t great though and in fact killed the other person scotty was trying to preserve.
