“This is when Ash78 chimed in with, honestly, a great idea.”

How about doing or attempting to do stunts like this on PUBLIC roads = seems pretty douchey to me.

And this is what I love about automotive engineering vs. people who think and/or pretend to know what they’re talking about.

And then people wonder why manuals are dying...

That’s interesting that at launch, they only offered this with the 4-cylinder engine. Hmmm...

‘Murica!

“And no, I’m not special. Neither are you. Spend some time recognizing that instead of going on multipage screeds assuming I’m attempting to parrot someone who’s name I forgot until you mentioned it. “

“If that’s the lie you need to tell yourself to feel smart and worth something, it’s better than the moral fraud you’ve been perpetrating.”

“I don’t give a shit about dead iconoclasts. “

“In fact, I would argue that a large number of people never consider it.”

“The part of this statement that’s truly selfish is the conceited notion that other people owe you their consideration for how they live their lives. Children who actually need care are one thing, but as a grown-ass adult, if my parents do something that risks their lives, I’d be a selfish prick to impose my personal

This is about as Canadian as it gets. Love it!

It’s selfish because they thought about themselves and didn’t take into consideration when riding or getting insurance (life or vehicle) and what will happen to their kids, at least financially, if and when they were to be turned into grease spots.

Calling someone selfish for not thinking about what happens if they turn to a grease spot IS selfish. As others have said, when you have a family, no one is saying that you CAN’T ride. But riding comes with risks, and those risks have to be at least financially accounted for.

The fact that those risks WEREN’T accounted

Most of the “bad” engineering issues I’ve seen has very little to do with actual engineering.

Thank you for sharing that insight.

“...but I am sure the senator on the appropriation committee from the district that made that garbage pump really needed the campaign money.”

Would it even get over the Rockies?

The situation is very different depending on where you go.

Yeah, I remember taking a class at the Society of Automotive Engineers (about gears and transmissions, and how to design/engineer them) and there was a guy from General Dynamics who said that I guess it would have been the Army that wanted a mid engine 8X8 or something like that, but have the transmission all the way
