W/hat you said - very true, but the problem is “these guys” are likely a bunch of private equity guys who figured another way to separate people with too much money from their money.

Very true. And it would be great PR if these guys were the first to volunteer a plane to fly rescue dogs to a catastrophe hotspot like a landslide or earthquake/building collapse where SAR dogs would be a tremendous resource.

Hard to believe there’s a market of pseudo-rich folks (those who can afford this but dont currently own/lease their own plane) big enough to support this. Also, I thought dogs going to other countries have to quarantine, and therefore international dog travel is an enormous headache to be avoided at all costs, or is

FOM are being dicks. Good thing they’re owned by an American company now so they can have fun talking with Congress.

I suspect that Ben Sulayem is trying to broker some kind of a deal with this team (one of these teams?) behind the scenes. And I’m curious if there’s any relationship between this soundbite and Gene Haas cutting back his motorsports portfolio today...

So Andretti’s application as an 11th team would not “be competitive or add significant value to the series.” However if they purchase another team, they would be golden. Sounds like the non-competitive team would not actually be Andretti.

I don’t think the actual experience is like what you’re imagining. First, assuming you’re right about “the whole point,” you’re in the middle of the ocean, so you’re definitely “away from the city.” The cruise I took wasn’t on a ship this big, but it was an pretty big RC cruise ship and I also almost never felt like I

That’s because Monaco is a shit track and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is one of the most exciting venues in all of motorsports.

My in-laws love em. They are the type that doesn’t want to sit still, so my guess is that it satisfies their urge to keep moving. Plus gambling and unlimited food.

The cruising on the ocean, the touristy stops, and so forth, do appeal quite a bit to lots of people.  And sometimes you can get deals that make the week-long experience cheaper than if you just did a week-long road trip.

That’s what everyone will go with until some old busy body keeps asking questions between her knitting projects.

I don’t remember calling them tornados, but we called AWD donuts cyclones.

As far as I can tell, this is the first reasonable use of a cybertruck.

We just called it stupidity.

I’ve gone on several cruises, and yeah, it would be very hard to do accidentally. It would have taken some deliberate goofing off and likely alcohol as well.

Where I grew up, doing ‘reverse donuts’ was done by front wheel drive cars and we called them either tornados or cyclones to differentiate the two. Is that a Midwest thing or do other places use that?

Sideshows, Dawin’s contribution to the auto world

I don’t cruise, but have watched enough travel videos from those who do to understand that the design of modern cruise ships make it VERY hard to just “fall”. Every railing, ledge, balcony, etc. is at least chest-high for an average-sized adult - some are more than head-high.  The conclusion they all point to is that

I’m surprised they were even able to recover him alive, even if he later succumbed to his injuries. It’s a big, dangerous ocean out there.

It effectively does, though. It’s making the cars less affordable.
