I’ll be honest I had to google Ticker Tape. Why don’t they just call it confetti? That’s what it is right?

I heard about this this morning on the Diane Rehm show. They re-did social studies books last year and apparently put slavery as the third contributing factor to the civil war with state’s rights being the first. Also they removed Jim Crow and the KKK from those books as well.

Sadly enough I am so embarrassed by my feet I generally avoid getting pedicures for years if I can. The last time I got a pedicure the women doing the pedicure made a comment about my feet that makes me not want to go back for another anytime soon. I don’t know why I’m so ashamed of my feet but I am :s

In Texas where the “war on drugs” is a very real, violent war for women and people of color living near the border there is a republican political action committee trying to make weed legal here. They’re called RAMP and while I’ll never be a fan of the GOP I can get behind this group.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! We already have enough crazy people here. THERE ARE SANE NORMAL PEOPLE HERE TOO I PROMISE!

How do you feel about a “Birthing center” someplace that’s a little less stressful than a hospital where a woman can choose to birth her child naturally and/or not necessarily in the stirrups but that still has access to professionals and professional equipment if there’s an emergency? I just ask because as I’m sure

I am only 23 but I got shingles when I was 15 because my mom didn’t give me the chicken pox vaccine. Apprently she didn’t think the chicken pox were that bad, and when I did get them when I was a kid they weren’t, but the shingles came back to bite me in the ass SO HARD. It was the most painful and uncomfortable

I didn’t realize until I was much older that we were better off. I guess my parents didn’t think it was important to talk about finances? But everyone I knew lived in big houses and I went to private school so I wasn’t around people of lower incomes. That doesn’t mean I turned out to be delusional about money though.

right? it’s ALWAYS a chiropractor.

To me I think this is the saddest part, these people are the same people who are also dosing their kids with bleach because they think that it’ll cure their autism and it makes me sick. My mom works with a lot of autistic kids and yes, they are different. Their symptoms can range from barely noticeable to severe but

This doesn’t speak for all of Texas! In fact I think you’d find our state to be a lot more blue if it weren’t for the terrible, terrible gerrymandering that has taken place. Most of the big cities are filled with young and liberal minded people who have voted for liberal candidates! But if you see the map below you

Hey! I think I have been making thoughtful comments for months now and I’m still in the greys :( #notallgreys

It’s from VEEP! it’s on HBO and it is funny as hell. The second gif is from Silicon Valley, also an awesome HBO comedy :)

I’ve also seen chokers making a comeback too!

A good friend of mine who likes to party a lot (doesn’t work, has a disposable income and lives in Austin to give you an idea) found out she was allergic to potatoes after SXSW one year when she was partying with the Tito’s Vodka people a lot. Crazier things have happened. How do you not realize you have a potato

I read an article about this on buzzfeed earlier which had some additional videos and which seemed to place more blame on the family involved. I can definitely understand rules about proper swimwear but it seems like a relatively open and shut situation (turn the kid away and give him a refund) escalated into a very

My friend had to have shoulder surgery and had her arm in a sling for a looooong time afterwards and that poor girl had the longest pit hair I had ever seen. She could have been braiding it, it was that long. There was no way we could get under there with a razor though because she wasn’t supposed to lift her arm up.

Not a proposal of marriage but I used similar wording in an equally unromantic setting when I told my boyfriend that I loved him. We were stuffing our faces with Whataburger post sex and I said “I think I might love you” to which he replied “I think I might love you too” aaaaaand we’ve been together ever since. <3

I think it was around mother’s day, something about not having mom’s in their life anymore. The comments were both justified and depressing. I’m glad so many people got rid of a toxic person in their life but I’m sad that for many of them it was a parent. I’m so glad my parents and I get along as adults (I hated them

I once hooked up with a good looking guy from back home in the bible belt and when I told him not to worry that I would take the morning after pill (condom broke) he said “Oh no! Don’t kill our baby!” ... I never spoke to him again.
