Oh i'm well aware 🙂 and of course we suburbanites avoided the city proper at any cost.
I’m quite the opposite. I’m more comfortable with the insurance standards here in California, and I also appreciate that they are about 1/3 the cost of Michigan.
It’s just Subaru doing their best to deliver disappointment, like this, and their follow-up tease of the “next WRX”.
Well, every single time I get a new car; whether brand-new, or new to me, I ALWAYS manage to get a fucking rock chip in the windshield. With. Out. Fail.
Screw the Supra, this would probably be more fun to drive.
If I’m not mistaken, Europe (or some European county/countries) is/are implementing more stringent noise laws, if they haven’t already. Also, local noise ordinances may get more strict with areas and trends that call for more dense housing, and mixed use zoning.
Tom - an anecdote to add to this re: test driving a limited/performance/etc edition vehicle.
These aren’t the Jedi mindtricks you’re looking for *waves hand*
Their MKV was fairly decent. I think the damned shame of it all is that they really did like the car a lot, and found it fairly fun to drive and the 5-cylinder note unique and novel.
The crayons themselves probably being more dependable performers than the vehicle itself.
I’m assuming most people voting NP don’t know jack about the MKIV, and the rest are sado-masochists. I, too, think this generation of VW had understated elegance and good looks and was just before The Great Decontenting. My parents remembered liking my Jetta so much that they bought a 2008 2.5. Which only made it to…
All FUCKS aside (hehehehehe), of COURSE they would come out with all this crazy stuff... after they stopped producing a turbo XT trim.
As soon as I saw the lede, I was like “Oh, $kaycog!”
I had oil consumption as well.
Just a few weeks ago at my apartment complex, as a gal was pulling into her covered parking spot her flip-flop got stuck in the pedal and she drove over the parking brick, through the wood panel fence, and part-way through that resident’s fence, nosed into their patio.
I was sort of hoping there’d be more teeth in the calling out of the well-known corruptness of the Japanese justice system. Especially when gaijin are involved.

Mine was riddled with issues as well until I got rid of it. I was on transmission #2 and THAT was on it’s way out, a control arm went bad, had an exhaust rattle, had pretty bad throttle lag, the intake butterfly screws started backing out, the MAF died.... all before I even hit 13,000 miles.
