Yeah, plenty of people/fields/disciplines still use the hell out of it. That’s another thing about social constructions: calling them “social constructions” isn’t the same as saying “not real” or “unimportant.” Race is a social category, not a natural one... but it’s a pretty important one in the world.

I think maybe you’re murky on what he means by “social construct.” There is no gene marker that identifies race...because race is a socially-created category, and any argument about what constitutes “race” is 1. historically contingent, 2. personally contingent, 3. spatially contingent, 4. constantly shifting
