Mega evolutions and z moves are both fundamental changes and can quickly change the tide of a battle. They’re exciting, dramatic new additions that are unique to the Pokemon using those abilities. Not to mention the switch to fully 3D worlds and Pokemon models with X/Y, something that people have wanted for years.
Between the soccer shot and the name Scorbunny, I thought the Scor- part meant score, not scorch. Though I suppose it could be both.
