Sad, but for whom? Is it sad for the person who says “I want to look like I’m wearing expensive gear, but I don’t want to waste money on it,” or is it sad for the person who sees AirPods and thinks, “That person is wearing expensive gear, and this raises my opinion of them?”

I refuse to be a part it. I pay the amount that’s on the bill, and I don’t see any valid, rational reason why I should pay more than the amount that’s on the bill. I’m not expected pay more when I buy clothes, I’m not expected to pay more when I buy electronics, and I’m not expected to pay more when I hire a plumber,

Someone in 33 states doesn’t understand what “addiction” means. And I have a hard time feeling sorry for parents who couldn’t figure out how to (1) teach their kids how to use Facebook, etc. responsibly or (2) impose reasonable controls over their kids’ access to these things.

I agree that colleges should be financially liable for the effects of crime committed on campus, especially if the school contributed by not responding to earlier reports about a perpetrator.

Wait, didn’t some politician tell us that women stand to gain financially from reporting sexual assault on campus? Can’t women just use that sweet rape money to pay down their loans?

This hits close to home. I suffered significant hearing loss when I was 4 or 5 years old. It was detected and treated while I was still a little kid and my ability to hear sounds is normal. However, my ability to turn sounds into meaningful language was (and still is) impaired, which led to years of bullying,

Hey, if you don’t like the taste of okra, no amount of garam masala is going to change that. It’s like me and beets - they taste vile, whether they’re roasted, pickled, in a salad, heirloom variety, etc.

Herring. Now there’s an acquired taste. My spouse loves the jarred stuff. I can’t get past the smell.

I totally get the hate for anchovies. As an ingredient, anchovies are a great background flavor. Straight from the jar, they’re vile little salt bombs. I love anchovies in food, but I would not want to bite into a whole one without warning.

South Indian style okra curries are amazing as long as you don’t cook the okra to the point that it starts oozing.

I’m gratified to see that beets are among the most universally hated foods. I grew up being forced to eat canned pickled beets, which made dinnertime an absolute misery. In addition to pickled beets just being nasty, I seem to have the gene that makes all beets taste like dirt (similar to the way cilantro tastes like

I wonder what happens when these kids finally get a glimpse of Animal House.

Take him seriously, not because he’s likely to win or even get the nomination, but because he’s selling what someone wants. Too may people didn’t take Trump seriously because they didn’t understand just how many people wanted what he was offering.

South Asians are the next group that will become honorary white folks. Basically, as long as an ethnic group isn’t actually of African descent, they will be absorbed into the “white folks” category if they achieve sufficient economic success and they adopt enough generic American cultural practices. That’s how it

They’ve bought the lie that they, too, would be rich if it weren’t for (insert disfavored group). The right has been very successful in convincing poorly educated, unskilled, low-income men that they’re just temporarily disadvantaged millionaires.

Therefore, by creating a division just for girls/women, it gives a safe space for females of all ages to play without the fear of intimidation, pressure, or sexism

I find your ideas intriguing and would like to subscribe to your newsletter.

Nah. Knowledge and experience matters. If your lack of knowledge causes you to make false or misleading statements, you deserve to be smacked down.

Obviously, all of the main points of this story - the rape, the nurse, the lack of access to abortion, a 13-year-old child giving birth - are horrifying. However, the story glosses over another outrage:

Sounds like someone fucked around and found out.
