You are so sweet, thank you! I do bless her and I feel like this story is a victory for all the nice people who can, in a stroke, undo the damage of toxic people!

Yes, she was wonderful to tell me and wonderful to be on the side of kindness and compassion. A shining light in an otherwise dismal situation.
That’s a great article. It’s simultaneously reassuring and depressing to know there really is something systematic going on and not just me going through life making terrible choices about who to work for.
I’ve been there. I’ve even had older women at work try to shame me for wearing completely work-appropriate clothes (Anne Taylor/Talbots - it doesn’t get much more conservative) because OMG cleavage (yeah, it’s going to happen if you have Ds, unless you wear a turtleneck). Revolting, these people.
Is it a job requirement or something? I honestly feel that most of the managers I’ve had have been sadists and narcissists and control freaks. I really feel like there’s some kind of psychological test that you have to pass (I guess I mean fail) before they put you in charge of hapless underlings just trying to get…
OMG I just remembered I cried once in an interview as well! I honestly haven’t thought about it in years, so I guess I don’t feel embarrassed about it. Like I don’t feel it reflects badly on me, honestly.
Smart smart! I like to use dryer lint (we have an endless supply).
They make avocado milkshakes in Egypt as well - just avocado, honey, milk, and ice, put it in a blender. DELICIOUS!!!
Yes! And “Through sick and sin!” Maybe it was actually a better book than I think, given that we can actually quote from it.
Ha ha! That brought back memories of all my classmates sharing a copy of the book “Lace” in the 6th grade. “Pit of the stomach arousal/nauseated feeling” captures it perfectly.
Thank you so much for writing this. I am positive that I would have written the same thing had I had kids. I am now 43 and it’s looking very unlikely. But I am so happy with my freedom to quit jobs, change careers, work for myself, etc. to stay on my own personal path, without ever having to second-guess myself.
This is the best news. I love her and feel like I’m a kid in the 80s again every time I hear her.
Make it sardines and I’m in!
Please god. Self-driving cars. They can’t get here soon enough.
hehehe I knew there were a lot of people in college who don’t really understand what they should be doing there, but jesus it’s a sad day when seeing a girl reading in her dorm room is cause for comment.
Thanks for the recommendation! Serious noob question: how do you get a good foundation match for drugstore products? Do you just buy one and hope for the best? Are there testers at your drugstore? I’m in LA, and I have yet to see any testers in any of the drugstores near me.
What, he doesn’t look like Johnny Rico from Buenos Aires to you? :)
It’s great for anyone who enjoyed Robinson Crusoe, or Swiss Family Robinson, or the host of “Robinson”-genre literature growing up. It’s a man-against-nature story, pitting human ingenuity against an uncaring cosmos. We root for this guy and share his trials and his triumphs. It totally worked for me. True, I am a…
You’d think they’d give these poor kids a target to look at. They are looking in (at least) two different directions. Are there two scary things?
If he ever had to sew for me he would be dead. He would think I was a monster and would just die of fright on the spot. (34 D here). To be fair, hardly anyone seems to make clothes for women with breasts larger than 36Bs. That’s what I was when I was like 12, the last time I was able to buy a shirt that buttoned…
