Americans don't think we really sound like that surely? I blame the Australian episode of The Simpsons and the continual quoting of it in AVC comments.

Aw snap :) stupid ipad….
I'm not sure exactly how NBC is doing ratings-wise but from what I read online it's not doing so well. The network that has the Australian rights is performing poorly across the board too. So they play to the lowest common denominator in a desperate bid to get ratings.
NBC's secret and subtle pro-USA agenda has been exposed in Australia!!! During a documentary about snowboarder Torah Bright they interviewed one of the NBC halfpipe commenters from the last games. He explained how, in the heat of the moment, he declared Bright to be the best female snowboarder in the competition at…
Tell me about it. People in this town are only just getting into Nirvana. I don't have the heart to tell them what's going to happen to Kurt Cobain in 1994.
Though clumsily done, I think the thematic reason for Bates murdering Green was that at that time it was extremely unlikely that a servant girl raped would get help from the justice system. Rape cases are hard enough to prosecute now, let alone the 1920s. So it's a weak GOT message: in violent times you need violent…
SPOILER. Someone further down said the lawn mower (edit: lawn mower man) has credits for three episodes on IMDB. so yeah, he's important.
I'm not sure I believe the grandfather theory BUT when Marty visits the in-laws the grandfather has a rant about goth/emo kids. And now Audrey is emo. He's clearly got a very strict sense of what's right or wrong and the victims seem to be prostitutes or what he might call "loose women". So maybe…
Maybe this show is a necessary evil. Hopefully some of the youngsters who watch this will become interested in sci-fi and as they get older move onto better quality shows. Maybe hopefully? Fingers crossed.
Speaking of the Little Rock Nine, were there any black Atrian? I didn't see any. Plus there weren't many black human teenagers either. Hmmmm….
Agreed. For the CW this is pretty good. If it does well we might see better quality programming from them down the track.
I appreciate the civil response, but "heart in the right place" sounds a little bit condescending :) I'm sure it wasn't meant that way, though.
I would like to see statistics to understand what you mean by fine.
Speaking as someone from a Western country with a functioning public health system, the majority of people here cannot understand the negativity and fear some Americans have towards Obamacare. Yeah it's not great, but a functioning public health system takes time to evolve which will mean there will be failures and…
You crazy Yanks actually have a Creation Museum?? Jeebus. My condolences.
I hope you're right, I'm sure you are as the quality of this show is amazing. I so want something good for Rust at the end of this.
Superficial in that Marty values his family almost like a trophy to show he is successful. Yes, he can't cope when they leave, but he put them to the periphery and suffers the consequences.
I agree about her drifting to the fringes. I think the show has too much integrity to go for the shock factor of having his daughter kill herself. It's more about slow and gradual destruction.
Classic Marty. He's so angry at being betrayed because his notion of a 'good daughter' has been smashed to pieces that he can't empathise with her. He doesn't do failure very well.
Very true. Her family seem keen for her to find someone else so it seems like it might have been what was expected of a young widow.
