The pessimist in me says election-year grandstanding.

It’s quite simple really. Write to your members of Congress and demand they back this legislation to stop this horseshit.

No, something unambiguously good is being suggested by one Congressman.

I know right? They did a thing, and it’s NOT crap on our dinner plate!

Ron Wyden has consistently been on the right side of digital privacy issues for several years. There’s basically no other senator who thinks as he does, however, and most fall about as far on the other side of the authoritarian spectrum as possible. He frequently makes valiant attempts to right these kinds of abuses

They want to cover their own asses to hide their (gay or straight) escorts, other lovers, corruption, fraud, porn/sex habits, etc.

Cautious optimism. This is just one senator talking right now, not an actual piece of legislation that anyone has voted on.

OH LORD, you're right! /shame

I read the entire series, we just happen to disagree. I’m glad you enjoyed it.

Even with all the unnecessary exposition and dead ends cut out there’s enough solid material for a minimum of seven seasons.

I predict a live action version would be plagued with scope issues, budget blowouts, fan polarisation, sets would be difficult, CGI would be expensive and would probably suck. GoT has worked because it is very character focussed and magic is

You mean Bela, Avatar of the Creator?

The R2-D2 of WoT.

Good call, and an angle I hadn’t even considered. This is my new wish.

I think you’re absolutely right. The biggest problem I think they will face is the lore behind channeling. Will the audience be able to see the weaves? Or will they just lobotomize it and everything will just be ‘magic’?

There would need to be a cleansing the likes of which have not been seen since Winter’s Heart.

The problem is the sheer mind-boggling success of the Wheel of Time novels. 56 million sales in the USA alone. 5 million sales in the UK alone. Worldwide sales of 90 million, conservatively. It’s the biggest-selling epic fantasy series since Lord of the Rings (unless you count Harry Potter as epic fantasy, which some

All hail Bela, Great Lord of the Dark!

Agreed. Cut out the bad stuff (of which there is very little), remove the HUGE amount of irrelevant padding from the middle books and it’s pretty much gold.
