This McLaren is a reminder to why all of us like cars. The technical ingenuniety apparent in every detail, the whole beauty of thing.. it’s stunning from every angle. A glorious reminder of why I study so hard; for I can hope that one day..

Saw you on r/cars last week - enjoy it!
26k can buy a much more modern chassis and transmission package in the form of a used Camargo SS. I’d rather add the bolt on myself, and not have confused strangers ask me why my sunbird beat them off the green light.
The summer after my freshman year of college, I still had my dorm apartment in the city until August. Pretty regularly, my friends and I would sneak rides to city, go out, crash at my place and drive home in the morning. One night, my mom was at mad at for a reason I forgot long ago, and said I couldn’t downtown. So,…
I would kill to have an interior like that in my WRX
I have the same fascination whenever I see older cars at home or abroad. I think it all boils down to how as gearheads, we focus on what gives a car soul. And if something functions decades after being made without more than basic maintenance, then it earns a right to have a soul. My day is just a little better when I…
That’s the spirit!
Lol you too
I meant that defined benefit plans are unsustainable. I think it’s entirely reasonable to have defined contribution plans that unions or workers can then invest in strategies of their liking, but defined benefit plans place a large burden on employers during economic downturns.
Fuck that’s an entirely reasonable point and one I’m more inclined to agree with, but I don’t want to get roasted anymore so just idk lol
You’re absolutely right. My mistake in this argument was assuming a union would serve to get in the way of Tesla. The UAW has a pretty bad rep, but it Musk is fair to the union then it shouldn’t be much of an issue.
I’m sorry for changing it, my first response was really immature and impulsive. Corporations are not a set of privileges, they are a way to organize resources and collect revenue. Blaming the charter of incorporation is akin to blaming hospitals for disease because it happens there. Employee owned collectives are a…
I see what you did there. I will give concessions; unions have their merits, but the fact is they become unreasonable over time
Police demand it and the government takes tax payer money to fund it. What you end up with is a pension crisis like the one Illinois is experiencing right now. While there are good state managers of money like CALPERS, most are awful at it. So it’s not fair to ask a profit making enterprise to fund a liability that…
Unions care about worker’s rights (good) while ignoring the need to satisfy investors of automakers (bad). Unions need to make more pragmatic demands, because otherwise they just drive the push for automation to be sooner.
I agree, they do a pretty good job keeping employers honest. BUT — unions occasionally levy unreasonable demands, like defined benefit retirement plans which are simply not sustainable. I’m a little scarred by the UAW from how much they pressured the Big 3 to fund those pensions during the recession. It’s their…
While unions had their place back in the day, I think it has been proven very well by Toyota, Nissan, Mercedes, BMW and VW at their American plants that you can pay a living wage, benefits and bonuses without the burdensome overhead of a union. Maybe Musk should do a COLA adjustment, but otherwise I don’t think a…
Sounds better than the future I’m thinking of. Count me in!
Can I have your time machine to 2022?
Touche, I forgot how much GM can suck; off to stalking Skodas
