Except the speaker of the House is next in line for the presidency.

Duckworth/Harris or Harris/Duckworth?

I feel the same way about my 20s, not coincidentally 2006 for me.

Thank you internet stranger. Apology graciously accepted.

He was incompetent, self-centered, and delusional, but he was also kind of charming and funny and at the end of the day he had a heart.

Because that is the original justification for the policies. My husband was a kid in the 80s when people in first class were often business people, or fancy or whatever. My point was that these are old and well known policies, not mysterious. As others have said though the enforcement of these policies seem arbitrary

I didn’t ask a question. I made a comment. Internet yelling and belittling were probably uncalled for.

Kinja ate a bunch of my replies so I’ll just post this here. I’m not a moron, I know people no longer dress to fly, and I get why, I was simply acknowledging the origins of the policy, a policy that isn’t as mysterious as the title suggests. I certainly think harassing a little girl, and then continuing to defend that

Agreed. And United’s willingness to die on this particular sword is ridiculous. They should say they are sorry, clarify their policy for pass travelers who are children and train their employees not to sexually harass children.

It should have been clear, but I was talking about where these dress codes came from, which is why I referenced my husband flying as a kid over 20 years ago when people in general and definitely in first class didn’t dress like a bunch of bums to fly, but airlines also didn’t treat people like cattle either. I don’t

That makes sense. It is ridiculous they harassed a child about her clothes, but I still think it’s not the big deal the headline makes it out to be.

My husband’s grandpa worked for American airlines and they flew standby as kids all the time. They dressed up. It was required because you may end up traveling in first class. These folks were flying for almost free. People feel so entitled. I dress comfy to fly because the airline industry makes flying extremely

I just got a pair of “blush” sneakers. I had no idea. Note: I am not a millennial.

Every kid and every parent is different. That said we trained our son at just over 2. It took about 2 weeks of serious effort and another month of work. It was totally worth it. When all people had were cloth diapers all kids trained before 2.

And the Environment wept.

We also have beer and we’re not all Walker voters, so please come back soon!

No, you have that part right but its vintage plastic and highly collectible so it’s now expensive. Trust me, many years ago I suffered a drunken eBay disaster that resulted in my ownership of some very expensive bangles.

This made me chuckle but I think Bakelite may actually be more expensive than jade.

My family is Jewish. My last name is Jewish. I gave my children Hebrew names. This is horrifying. I will also say I had planned to join my local JCC to use the pool and gym and take my kids to play. I am having serious concerns about whether that is currently a good idea and that makes me super sad.

If these people were really worried about the safety of children and (biologically male) predators exploiting open bathrooms to assault our daughters, then shouldn’t we already be freaking out because these sexual predators are in public bathrooms with our sons!? It just shows the sexism inherent in their transphobia.
