Oh, no! This happened to my mom a while back with a chicken. She couldn’t find it and thought she left it at the store, and then found it in the car a week later, after it had been sitting in the garage in the heat. It had leaked, so she had to take it to a car wash to get professionally cleaned. If the meat…
I’m so sorry. That blows.
My sister got an amazing deal on an almost brand new van; she had a mechanic friend go over it with a fine toothed comb, and he was really impressed with the condition. But it smelled ... I suspect something like what happened to you, and the Mythbusters episode..
Thanks for this! I have a problem pisser as well and have tried everything without much success.
Activated charcoal, or kitty litter. And airing it out is a good move.
I vaguely remember a MythBusters episode about cleaning out a car that had a “body” (in this case, a dead pig) in it for awhile. Unfortunately, a specialized service like that is probably insanely expensive :/ Last resort!
Right? Only after I posted did I realize you had said it was ballooned, so of course it hadn’t leaked otherwise it wouldn’t have been inflated. Duh lol.
Call Harvey Keitel?
Yikes, that must be especially nasty! I have no advice but lots of sympathy. 😳
There’s a thing that you open it and leave it for like 12 hours and it just removes all smells. Some kind of antistink bomb. When one of our cats was peeing in one corner of the basement (to cover up the previous owner’s dog’s pee, we think?), I used it and it took away his pee smell and he couldn’t find the dog’s…
oh, good. (er, well, not as horrible, at least?)
Yeah, that is definitely a possibility.
Seriously. It is FOUL.
I forgot about the newspaper trick! Thanks!
No, thank goodness, it hadn’t leaked. It’s just the stench hanging in the air, but the area of carpet it was resting on does reek the worst.
Oh, wait.... you didn’t say if it had leaked. If so, then yeah, total industrial carpet shampooer, with some sort of sanitizing agent added.
Vinegar, fabreeze, lemons throw everything in. Ugh.
A lot of Newspapers. Crumbled up, and tossed in. Bakingsoda, I would maybe sprinkle in a little clothes softener, mix it in, and cast it every where, vacuum up with the dead flies, after a while. Citrus peels, also, freshen well.
Can you rent one of thoughts carpet washers? You might have to pay extra for the attachments. Or take your care to a car wash what will clean and wash the inside.
