This entire article is framing this as if TLoU didn’t do this story back in 2013.  Huge swaths of this episode (and the series) are straight form the game, and aside from seeing the men and women of the community, this is maybe the closest the show has hewn to the game.

I believe the backlash from Season 2 was that they wanted more of the warm hug Season 1 gave them during peak pandemic, and wasn’t ready for the Empire Strikes Back vibes they were clearly aiming for.

I really like this show. I totally don’t get the backlash for season 2. I almost wish it wasn’t such a success so people wouldn’t hold it to some weird, high standard.

all the more astounding that it occurred —> all the more astounding in that it occurred

I’m semi-convinced this was written by an AI

How did a reviewer on a media coverage site not get that the submarine sketch was an extended riff on the iconic opening scene of Crimson Tide? Where Gene Hackman gives a speech and asks what the name of the boat us. It’s not really an obscure movie...

Worst monologue in recent memory. Worse than Kim Kardashian or Elon Musk. And I love Woody in general... that was just terrible.

While I didn’t watch yet... the rest of the internet is up in arms over Woody’s anti vax BS in his opening monologue... which is not even touched upon here

Don’t know what the impact to cast and crew contracts would be but it feels like they’d be better off just having one show that switches between mini-arcs that multiple main characters (similar to Clone Wars) have. They clearly see all of the characters as part of one big story and two episodes of Boba Fett were just

The Star Wars will continue until morale improves.

You know I’d think that, but no matter which browser I use (Chrome, Firefox, or, god help us, Microsoft Edge) it does the same thing. Possibly you’re right and it’s hardware; god knows I occasionally have to start up my Macbook the way I have to start up a lawnmower.

*up with which, etc

Just because Watterson is easily the best teacher of language’s specificity (“Verbing weirds language” is one of the funniest punches ever), let me fix this for you:

Dude, he just wrote the article, don’t shoot the messenger.

Avenue 1,2 and 3 were destroyed by terrorist during construction.  Avenue 4 disappeared.   But it really got sent back in time to be used in the previous Shadow War.

Thanks! Just found out they even talk about this in the official podcast. So it was definitely no coincidence.

This is the kind of thoughtful inquiry I miss from AV club recaps now.

I’m amazed it last two seasons. Been a fan of Armando Iannucci and Hugh Laurie since their earliest days on the BBC, and this was the worst show I’ve ever seen either of them involved in. Just painful to watch.

Them moving from one anthology to the next kinda is the story, at least for the first little bit

It was kind of anemic to be honest. With that writer and cast I was expecting a lot more out of it.
