Same. As horrifying as the rape scene is, that act of violence is visceral and disgusting and troubling. And that it comes so early in the movie makes it even more shocking.

for real. It is hands down the most horrific scene ever filmed, no hyperbole.

I read Ebert review of it and he described the head smashing in some detail (probably more than you’d expect in a family newspaper like the Chicago Sun-Times), but that didn’t really bother me that much.

Yeah, it’s a really impressive technical feat, considering the budget and the era (there’s a great making of featurette on it) but yeah, absolutely hideous. I’ve of course never seen anyone have their head disintegrated by a fire extinguisher irl, but I kinda feel like I have.

Yeah, I picked it up on sale years ago and it’s still sitting there in the shrink wrap because I just can't bring myself to watch it.

By playing the scenes in chronological order, hasn’t he lost half the reason for the film’s title?

Definitely one of those “Nah, I can’t” flicks for me.

I thought the whole point was the Major was an out of touch old geezer though?

I never thought that Polly added much....she was on the show because they were married IRL

Yup. That’s the British system in which “a season” means 6 episodes. It just means that they pack ahellofalotofstuff into every single episode. It’s hard to imagine that many jokes and comedic situations in just 12 episodes. One of my all-time favourite UK comedies is similarly only 12 episodes -- The Young Ones.

We already got the American remake starring John Larroquette. What more can you do with Fawlty Towers?

This.

Flowery twats.

Floury Twats

When you’ve chipped away all of your goodwill with poor writing, non-existent research, heaps of obtrusive ads, and awkward preaching about who the handful of idiots who still check in are allowed to like this week . . . wait . . . who was I talking about?

Don’t mention the war. I did once, but I think I got away with it.

So, what’s going to suck more: this, or the Frasier revival?
