So, why is the name Tristran problematic? What am I missing?

Seriously. I actually liked Solo, but there were certainly problems with it. A different actor playing Han Solo was not one of them.

I read some interview with Steve Guttenberg once where he summed up his career thusly:

I mean, in-between he had Jackie Brown, Live From Baghdad, Cars, Toy Story 3, Birdman, Spotlight... Birdman and Spotlight won Best Picture, Birdman got him a Best Actor nom. I think he qualifies as a legend.

Yes, they do.

Unless I missed something, pretty sure you never visit Dagobah.

From what I understand, the founder of this company named it in honor of that one.

Jason X is my favorite Friday the 13th movie, hands down. I can’t defend this position, but I absolutely love this dumb, dumb movie.

I believe they mentioned Chicago once or twice.

Took my son to see Bad Guys. We loved the books, and I had reservations, because it looked like it diverged pretty far from the source material. It WAS pretty different from the books, but it had the same spirit, and we both thought it was great.

I believe he is a writer and executive producer on the series, though.

Mörk Bork has the best take on this.

I’m a Craig Ferguson fan, and I enjoyed The Hustler enough, but I hope this gives him the chance to tackle something with a little more meat.

2. I wonder if EGG started the tradition of being a frustrated genre writer who turned to gaming, or if he was tempted to write after the fact.

I was thinking of Snow Crash, with it’s weird diversion into Babylonian history in the middle, or Anathem with the 600 PAGE SCENE set in a large conference room...

As much as I love Stephenson, doesn’t that describe most of his work?

I never said they weren’t - please don’t put words in my mouth. I only replied to your slagging of Devo.

Heh, I mean, I definitely own more Meat Puppet albums than Alice in Chains albums. But that would assume I give a shit about the hall. I was just trying to point out that Devo is a LOT more important than you think they are.

Now playing

There were definitely NOT a lot of New Wave artists before them. “Whip It” was on their third album - they’d been a band for nearly a decade before that, and were one of the first punk bands to incorporate synths as a major part of their sound. Brian Eno and David Bowie tag-teamed the production of their first album,

“Of all the bands who came from the underground and made it in the mainstream, Devo were the most challenging and subversive of all.”—Kurt Cobain
