I think Ms. Reade believes something happened. There hasn’t been any evidence of astroturfing, unlike Christine O’Donnell’s niece that accused Biden of leering at her at an event he wasn’t event at.

And when your society develops a pattern and history of accused persons NOT getting a vigorous professional defense, as per the fucking Constitution? Then what you’ve got is a goddamned fascist state railroading political enemies and “social undesirables” into prison (or worse).

I would suggest actually reading the article. It seems pretty clear that she was using “I’m a victim of domestic abuse” as a way to get cheap rent. Being a victim isn’t a grift; pretending to be one when you’re not, is.

There are ways to critique Biden, but making a sarcastic quip about him losing a child (actually two children) is pretty low.

You do have to do a lot of mental gymnastics if your goal is to try and develop a rational framework for buttressing their accusation.

I basically agree with you. You have to do some mental gymnastics in order to take the position that someone’s historical propensity for truthfulness is not probative of their credibility. 

You said evidence.  Usually there’s a cross examination.  Not just someone telling their story.  She can tell her story all she wants.
