Why do you even read articles on a car enthusiast news site? Cars pollute. Race cars pollute even more and they just drive in circles. The cancel culture dominates Jalopnik and it makes no sense. Just retire the Jalopnik name and move all the journalists over to Jezabel.

Another way they leach off the government, they fill their cabins with elderly customers in poor health and rely on US tax payers to foot the bill every time there is a medical emergency using a Coast Guard medevac. Typical cost is over 50K for the helicopter and safety escort and it happens more often than you might

I agree with all your points. Also, electric cars are more efficient so they are effected by drag and weight more than gasoline cars. If a Tesla drops 10% efficiency from bigger wheels, that doesn’t correlate to gas cars.

Jalopnik has turned into an anti motorsport website. Lame

“Don't book basic economy”

Puffy hair, giant shoulder pads and no feet? No doubt it's a Liefeld.

The author owns like 6 cars but thinks a heavy duty truck is excessive....

Also, look at how much the Civic has grown over the years, it’s not just trucks. The Ford Transit Connect fills the role of a compact cargo vehicle and hardly sells.

My first car was a 1st gen RX7 with a manual. It was only 10 years old at the time and I paid $2000 for it. It did break down occasionally and the drivetrain shook terribly at 65 so I only drove 55 or 75 on the freeway. Even in 65 mph traffic, I would just accelerate and decelerate like a psycho.

I read a lot of articles claiming we don’t have small cheap trucks anymore but you can buy a new Nissan Frontier with an MSRP of 19K. It’s another example of enthusiasts claiming to want more niche vehicles that already exists and no one buys.

I agree. Hopefully it opens the doors to copycats putting electric scooter rentals out of business.

I’m sure they could figure something out. Thanks for posting the video.

Maybe follow the cars/motorcycles through the slow sections of a track and circle back when they start to fall behind. I’m sure the professionals could figure something out to enhance the race footage.

They wouldn’t pass our crash testing. The closest equivalent that we have is the Transit Connect. It has a low center of gravity and crumple zones.

The trunk and hood are required to meet US safety standards. The closest equivalent that we have is the Transit Connect. It has a low center of gravity and crumple zones.

They don’t meet our safety standards.

I agree that Asian market vans are cool, but the reason we don’t have equivalent proportioned vans here is because they don’t meet US safety standards. No crumple zones and they roll over quite easily.

Thank you for promoting train travel! When I think of all the things that I hate about commercial air travel, none of the issues apply to trains. The big negative is time, but if you are not in a hurry trains make a lot of sense, (especially with tablets and modern internet coverage).

I think it is a side effect of meeting new safety regulations for pedestrian impact. The are required to leave spece between the hood and engine but on these tall trucks and vans, I don't think a pedestrian would make it passed the front grill anyway.

I think the lesson learned is that a car platform has much better proportions as a starting point for a crossover than a minivan.
