How is this not newsworthy? Outside of fanboys, I’m pretty sure this is very relevant.

Three Tesla stories in one morning, and only one (the SEC investigation) is even remotely newsworthy.
Doug has done more for car culture than damn near anybody. He’s gotten people who had previously had no interest in cars excited. And that has value.
No, direct sales just cut the useless (and I do mean utterly fucking useless) middleman out of the equation. Much better for the profits to go to those actually responsible for the product rather than some fucking leech.
To be fair here, dealers having been tacking on ADM of like $5 ~ $20k on their most popular models. The difference here is that Tesla can’t put the blame on their dealers for going over MSRP since Tesla ONLY sells at MSRP.
New car prices are up 12% over the year. That’s an *average* of $4,872. What that means is that cars that aren’t in demand are seeing little to no increases, where cars in high demand are seeing much higher increases.
“As long as you’re not a ham-fisted moron,...”
A: Said pipeline was only about 10% completed and was providing zero oil and hence had nothing to do with supplies.
B: You do realize that if we wen all electric that would drive down demand for gas.... right?
C: Gas prices are not controlled by national demand. Its international demand and whatever is produced in the…
Anyone who shares their car with their spouse will disagree with you on the memory feature. Bonus points for changing the tilt/telescoping steering wheel and side mirrors with the seat memory button (Hyundai Veracruz). Its the little things that makes a car feel special.
That’s going to be an unpopular opinion. I had a Lexus with a heated steering wheel for 4 years and my spouse asks if every other vehicle we consider acquiring has that feature. Any vehicle without heated seats wouldn’t be considered.
Because you seem to think that their wealth is just sitting in a bank account somewhere.
Now I can’t speak for Bezos (whom I am NOT fond of) but be careful when lumping Musk in with the other avaraicious billionaires.
Musk’s fortune is entirely tied up in SpaceX and Tesla stock. His fortune is considered by the IRS as…
Go back and read the other articles and the comments. Not doing the work again for you.
So Jalponik, in more than one article (you only linked one) blamed Autopilot, even though several commenters (myself included) proved it wouldn’t be possible simply because of the rate of acceleration that had to happen and where it happened.
Months later, what we already knew is proven. Now you decide to lean towards…
The question is not if drivers are inattentive because we all know that drivers are inattentive regardless of the amount of automation in the car. The key question is if these automation systems are safer than human drivers. I personally know 2 people that damaged their cars when they fell asleep while driving and…
Did you really drop the issues of the spread between the top 1% and the others on Gen Z? Who still runs most top positions and controls in this country and never provided real progress for those following? There has been an increase in the spread. You need a nap and an education on that and who also dropped increases…
I’m not bitter, I just find your fascination with your own self-interest over ICE vehicles to be rather counter-productive and silly. You sound like a gun nut, “why should I have to give up my sstockpile of high-capacity magazines when the problem is the mental health system in our country?”
There are a couple main reactions here.
Okay I do agree at some of your points. Mostly about how crazy Tesla fans are (strangely similar to Apple fans) I do agree that Tesla seems to be selling a name and a product more then quality as well.
Bad Take- this is like blaming the Japanese for destroying american auto manufacturing- Tesla did something that everyone kept saying was 10 years off and that auto manufacturers were like “yeah, but we really know how to build internal combustion engines so we’re just going to keep doing that...”
This article is trash. Jalopnik used to be the place to go to get unbiased and informative car news. Sad to see that you all just waste your weekends trawling local news websites for Tesla crashes now.
