The irony being that some of them may have been ‘busted’ in their paltry paid jobs only to become indentured labor in this prison system. You’re prohibited from working — except for us.

Unfortunately we have a not insignificant portion of the population that thinks this treatment is a-ok because these people are undocumented.

Fantastic news. These private prisons make bank off of forcing people to “voluntarily” work for them. Really excited to see that this suit has gone forward.

Just a reminder that people who are being held in immigration detention centers are not being punished for crimes, but these centers are nonetheless run very much like prisons. I think the operators may not always understand the Constitutional significance of the fact that these people are not criminal prisoners.

Sikh men wear turbans, and dumb Americans think turban = Muslim (maybe because of cartoons?). Plus they tend to have similar skin tones as people from the Middle East.

These people don’t know the difference between a Sikh, a Hindu, a Muslim, a dark skinned Catholic, an Arab, a North African, an Israeli Jew...you get my drift.

These kinds of deaths always seem extra sad. This man had no one in his life that cared enough to figure out why they hadn’t heard from him. I’m a little surprised it took a landlord so many months to come and collect the rent.

This seems reminiscent of the Texas legislature, who routinely pass laws that are clearly unconstitutional. They get good press for being the rightist right conservative on the block, they get to enforce whatever awfulness until someone files a lawsuit, than they get to waste millions of dollars and months of time…

You know what’s insane?

Awhile back (at least 10 years, probably more) kids were huffing compressed air to get high, so they added a bittering agent to it. And it’s probably the worst tasting thing in the world. Like, picture the most bitter thing you’ve ever tasted and multiply it by a hundred or so. So anything you spray with it tastes so…
