Yeah, in general this game sacrificed theme for gameplay elements too much for me to entirely be comfortable, and this is a good example. I really liked the story, but frequently it felt very game-y in a way I don’t see often in modern narrative-driven games.

Funny thing is, he *has* a decent gaming PC. Even I’m mystified as to why he wanted it in the first place.

Fantastic. I put in a request for support; I suspect I’m going to be waiting for a while.

Here’s an update: I logged in to check the status and apparently it’s already shipped as of yesterday. Still no notifications; the actual package may beat any communication.

Yup, my dad still hasn’t gotten his email to be able to log in. We pre-ordered for him in June. What a mess.

Thankfully, she’s being clear about expected delivery dates being waaaay out there. I backed even knowing there’s a late 2021 delivery date. It’s like a present to future me.

Just long enough for me to forget they’re coming. Nice!

Man these are pretty. I particularly like the numbering they used. Thanks for highlighting this.

I’d also like to know this. I’ve only read a couple of the books because they’ve largely been prequels or fill-ins, which is not usually my cuppa; I’d like to know how important it is that I have consumed all of the various books and comics in order to enjoy this.

If it helps, you’re less stealing and more retrieving. In general, there are above-board ways to complete just about every quest I’ve done in the game so far.

I much preferred the ending of the short story. It ended on such a mysterious, haunting note.

As someone who’s been playing for years and gotten a lot of new people into the game, I’ll add these:

I’ve avoided the game up to this point, but if I could have a persistent world to play with my family and close friends? Sold. Problem is, it’s not persistent, and I don’t care enough about the other perks for them to be a draw.

I’ve had to accept in Shadowkeep that I’m just running around killing things until the next little story or lore slice comes along. At least some of the activities that nudge my power up (like Vex offensives) are fun co-op experiences on their own. So far, that’s enough to keep me going.

so far, just in this thread, I’ve gotten 4 or 5 different and exclusive answers about what the actual differences are.

I’ll throw my hat in here, because I’ve also experienced some confusion over the terms (being fairly late to the party). I’m a panromantic aesexual, so my perspective is a bit different as well; take what I say with a grain of salt, here.

In general I haven’t had great luck with steam forums in any game. The tone there tends to be exactly what you’re saying: someone complaining about a game, and fans getting defensive on behalf of the developers. I’m not sure why the steam forums seem to have this consistent tone, but I avoid them when I can.

I’ll second the ‘get social’ point. A lot of people on the subreddit are pointing out that if someone emotes at you twice quickly, they’re likely trying to get your attention in order to show you something helpful. Destiny can have unclear mechanics at times, and there’s usually a vet happy to help.

I have to disagree with the article a hair here. I worked in IT support (phone-based) for years, and I found those stupid jokes to be incredibly effective, rapid shorthand for a conversation, so we could get down to fixing their problem.

Oh, it’s shady as hell.
