About a year ago, I was at my regular karaoke night and we slipped into a “Weird Al” block, where one person did a Weird Al song and that inspired somebody else to do a Weird Al song until suddenly a dozen Weird Al songs were queued up to go. The KJ then asked us all the question “Are there any songs where you knew… Read more
I feel that it’s more likely that the “magic” Mysterio is doing in the trailer is more “illusion,” that these are elaborate holograms/Las Vegas magician tricks to convince people he’s fighting a monster when he’s actually, like, using magnets and smoke screens to distract everybody from a bank robbery or somesuch.
Games I’m psyched about this season:
I’m glad you’re safe and relatively unscathed!
Provided you have the log-in for a cable provider, all of the season 5 episodes are available in the Cartoon Network app on you phone/tablet/smart TV or on their website. Between that and the first four seasons on Hulu you should be 100% covered.
Gaming has been sparse for me over the past month as the wife and I have mostly been engaged in a game of Real Life Nintendogs: Pug Puppy Edition. We’ve leveled him up to housebroken and mostly docile, but his MP stats still fluctuate wildly, especially when we StreetPass with other Real Life Nintendogs players on the… Read more
Same here, $8 a month for Google Play Music and YouTube Red. I use Google Play Music every day and YouTube Music a few times a week, despite being an iPhone user and fully aware that the iOS apps are far from ideal. I hope we get grandfathered in at our $8 deals, but as long as the app isn’t somehow worse than what… Read more
I admit that I went into this show already hating its existence. I was a big fan of Mike Carey’s Lucifer comic series in college and the idea of adapting that wonderful polytheistic dimensional-hopping existentialist romp into a police procedural felt insulting. But there was nothing else on that night, so my wife and… Read more
My second thought when the cancellation happened (after “oh no, we’re rapidly running out of genuinely fun shows on network television”) was “maybe now we can get that Tom Ellis & Matt Ryan Lucifer/Constantine buddy romp we’ve all been dreaming of” before quickly realizing how irritating that show would be.
This episode was satisfying only in context of the past season or two, which had largely been miserable overwrought murder plots. During seasons 5 and 6 I would make a weekly “remember when this show was a weekly romp about covering up which Senator was sleeping with which college student?” aside, but this year was… Read more
Yay, I’m glad you dug it too! It really did leave the biggest impression on me of all the wild games last year and I worried that a lot of people didn’t give it a fair shake. Even coming back to it months later, I kept finding interesting new details in that game that encouraged me to just sit and think for a while.… Read more
As a musical toy it’s an absolute wonder. As a game, it’s just a pretty basic point-based card game that happens to have a lot of bells and whistles around it in the form of flashing lights and catchy music.
As with the past two weeks, I’m completely hooked on Cartoon Network Match Land, playing it several times a day just to grind some loot and level up my team. Mostly, though, I’ve been pleasantly falling deeper and deeper into Switch eShop sales, finally biting the bullet and picking up both Super Beat Sports and Gracef… Read more
Bishop has been “insane” basically since Hope was born. There was a whole run of Cable where Nathan was raising Hope in the future and they kept having to jump further and further into the future to get away from Bishop, who was stalking them through history to murder Hope.
ALSO The Webby Awards are open for public voting now! There are SEVENTEEN gaming categories and I am baffled by almost all of them. How is Hearthstone a puzzle game? How is TwoDots eligible this year when it already won in 2015 and has released a new game (Dots & Co.) in the intervening years? And how the heck is DropM… Read more
Man, Minit looks so good, but I’m having a harder time these days justifying any purchases on the PS4 that will be played for less than a week. I might hold out for a Switch port or cave and go for it on Steam.
I absolutely adored watching this over the past few weeks. It’s marvelously paced, so much so that I even took note of the fact that I only sobbed uncontrollably at the odd-numbered episodes. The way the girls bonded felt so natural and unforced, so honest and subtle. Each girl is given plenty of time to shine and… Read more
If you read past the first couple pages, this is clearly not a script to an actual proposed episode but Glover venting about the dissolution of the project. He takes a dig at Marvel preferring a feel-good minority show on Freeform (Cloak & Dagger) and makes wildly topical jokes that definitely wouldn’t fly by the time… Read more
