I think this story is hilarious, because as UND student, a sports fan, an avid sports center viewer, and a sports illustrated subscriber, I didn't hear news of this even ONCE when it happened. I think this article seems to be blowing it more out of proportion that it actually was

I feel real bad for the play by play guy. In his e-mails, he comes across as a nice guy trying to apologize. But then his bosses and the coach react badly and he has to turn into a groveling husband begging his wife forgiveness for forgetting their anniversary. If he's lucky, a real school will hire him away.
