Let’s think about the fact that apparently in the UK, there are only 9 or 10 (if there’s a 000) law enforcement agents licensed to kill. Meanwhile, in the US, cops ain’t cops until they’ve at least shot a suspect’s dog.

I’m not sure that’s the original soundtrack; music rights issues have plagued reissues of this show in all media.  It was a big deal when they recently restored the correct Cocker version of the theme.

I mean...I understand the impulse, I really do. But I also think it should be a little bit difficult to arbitrarily ban a person from long-distance travel — if you want to go from NY to a place in CA that’s not LA or SF, saying you can substitute a car or train for a plane rings hollow.

As it turns out, yes, because none of it was released in TV year 2020-1 (the second one came out in July).  That may not totally explain it.

If so, that explains why the weekly show is likely to be better, but it doesn’t make it an unfair comparison if they’re both doing “the same kind of show” — which is fuzzy, sure, but This Week.... and The Daily Show are clearly within the boundaries. Have they addressed how the “documentary” is being made?  Digital, it’s exempt from those rules?
