Why even include the VIN if that’s not the actual car? Isn’t it be illegal to advertise a false VIN?

I think you’re assuming that studless winter tires perform better on wet pavement. Studded tires outperform studless options on ice (duh) AND wet/dry pavement (wait what?!) because the rubber compound on studless tires is much softer. You’re better off with studded tires regardless of whether or not you actually break

It’s the urban equivalent of a bro truck. The only true answer is ‘because I can.’

Whatever engineer thought putting the transfer case shifter closer to the driver is an idiot. I sincerely hope they had no other choice. I would be continually annoyed with reaching over one stick to get to the other.

Why Cassette Tapes Are My Favorite Only Way To Hear Music While Driving

When I was buying my Mazdaspeed3 the dealer made me sign an agreement that said I wouldn’t put chains on my car (chains won’t fit w/o damaging the body anyway). The loan officer laughed and said “as if you’d ever drive this in the snow, anyway!” I promptly told her that’s one of the things I most look forward to.

This is extremely common in the construction industry. I had a few guys on my job recently that worked for our earthwork sub and every day about 15 mins before break they would put their burritos or wrapped up food in the engine compartment of the dozer/loader/paver etc. It’s pretty efficient - you don’t waste time

It makes you wonder, though, that if automakers knew their customers weren’t going to get a 7.5k credit out the door, would prices for EVs come down? I’ve been looking at EVs recently and they make sure you damn well know about the credit.

The two common theories I’ve heard is that the Willys were easier to stack during transportation with flat or removed windshields. Also, you could lay a soldier flat on a stretcher lengthwise (i.e. feet or head on the bonnet, other half inside the vehicle).

It might have been less than $100, this was six years ago.

I’ve seen state troopers in OR and WA remove incapacitated cars from highways like this as well. It’s quite useful - they should do it 100% of the time. I wonder if the driver of the car has to sign a liability waiver in case they (the cop) damage the vehicle?

I had a 9 year old Macbook until a month ago. It was purchased running Leopard, which was well before the App Store was a thing on Mac’s. I learned the hard way that an iPhone 4S isn’t compatible with Leopard (10.5), because you can’t update iTunes past a certain version. I needed to get to at least Lion (10.7) to

It’s a f-ing travesty that there’s barely 1,200 miles between these four glorious machines. I mean sure, only 132 of the SLS AMG Black series were made so it’s ‘rare’ by modern car standards, but c’mon man. It’s not so vintage or rare you can’t source parts or get it repaired by MB.

As a general rule, it’s usually a good idea to disconnect the car’s battery if you’re going to be messing with wires, too.

Hm, I’m gonna say yes, this accident could be the culprit. Surprised this wasn’t a total loss (I guess it was a $140k car...)

But have you ever had to LITERALLY climb into your car?

You have no idea how relieved I am that your wardrobe choice was a costume (no matter how poorly executed it was)

Yeah looks much better if the pillars are not also contrasting

My view is biased, because I have a reverse commute (Palo Alto -> SJ in the AM). Any other direction and agreed, the only time you’re going 80 is 2 AM

CUV/SUVs with a different color roof than the body. I think this all started when certain manufacturers (ahem, BMW) started putting out black roofs to emulate the raw carbon look (even though the roofs weren’t actually carbon). Then a decade later it trickled down to the general masses in an attempt to make their cars
