A project for some time, I finally took it out to see the light of day. This started as a tan MBX Power Wagon with goofy tampos, that I gave a coat of good ol’ OD green to, then weathered. Was going to put M*A*S*H type Red Crosses on it, but haven’t gotten around to it.
Kind of proud of how this guy came out. HW VW Golf Then and Now. Started as this:
Every other month there is a vintage Flea Market near where I live. Die casts are usually pretty rare, but this time I found a vendor who had some, and scored the following:
I haven’t posted in quite some time, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been in touch. Seeing everyone’s customs is always a highlight, and I try to make comments that let you know how fantastic your work is.
Now I’m not bragging, but I was quite pleased with how this guy came out. I picked up the coupe on impulse, as I had thought I already had an old Johnny Lightning coupe from my youth. Unfortunately, a check of the cases revealed that car had gone somewhere in the years since childhood. After DLM’ing this one, I began…
Today’s swap meet journey was largely uneventful, save for a few randoms.
Sometimes the madness overcomes you, and you have to follow the muse, wherever she may lead you. I was admiring the MBX ‘59 Chevy wagon wheel swap I had done, when I noticed it was sitting next to an MBX Citroen CX estate, currently hauling the Hitch-N-Tow Airstream. The muse spoke, and soon I was at the table,…
Today’s swap meet adventure netted some fine treasures. I went in search of wheel donors, and plenty of those I found, but these finds made the trip totally worthwhile.
Not running barn find, a 1966 Dodge A100 pickup. Some customization done, rear seats added probably from a Subaru Brat. 273 CI V8 motor is complete, but we haven’t tried to start it. Needs wheels, brake drums appear to be in good shape. Custom paint job, starting to show some wear.
A pair of Unimogs from my collection. The MBX plow I picked up last week at the SD swap meet, and the Lesney regular wheel I’ve had for a long, long time. The cargo cover is from a HW Unimog, that I can’t find, but believe I still have.
The fortunes have favored me today. I went to the San Diego swap meet, to chase the dragon. No, that means hunt for die-casts. The first stop in the back forty was a spot that had five or six large plastic tubs of carded HW and some MB. Most in the 97-99 era, although some were earlier or later. I will feature those…
Well, for a couple of weeks now, I’ve kept the die cast urge at bay, but I felt inspired since a lot of you are finding Yellow Submarines, Honda Odyssey’s and other HAWLS. So I ventured forth to the TRU, but got skunked, at least for anything I find interesting. Except for these:
Today’s swap meet run was unusually prolific. Most of these are out of mixed bins, so they are a little worn, but some are in very nice condition,
Scored some nice casts today at the swap meet.
Been waiting to post these since I found them recently.
Okay, that was awful, I’ll admit it.
For Sale: 1965 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud MK III Mulliner/Park Ward drophead coupe.
Been wanting to post tho guy for a while, a Majorette Volvo 245DL
