I own a dieselgate wagon too. I now own a BMW diesel wagon. The only way I could get my wife to agree to ditch her plans to get a first gen X1 (mini crossover SUV thing) was to find a used diesel wagon. I miss the manual, but not a bad compromise.

Make it a diesel manual, and we’re on.

The court settlement documents stipulate that the 3rd generation TDI’s (2015) have a fix as part of the approval: a new software flash to increase Urea usage, and a set of new sensors to ensure compliance. If the settlement goes through later this month, then 2015's should be available for sale, and since 2016's use

So what happens to the 2015's and 2016's still on the dealer lots? That’s the million dollar question. I own two TDI’s, the first I would never get rid of, the second is in line to be turned into cans. I would love a 2015 or 16 TDI, because there’s nothing else that fills the niche of manual diesel wagon that gets

You guys are just cheap. Mine smells like must from the multiple times the sunroof drains clogged, and dumped rainwater all over the floor.

We rented a Dart, and my wife kept calling it the “Dort” because the font was a little busy on the back. The name stuck.

What crap, there’s no review of Lada’s either Nivas or Rivas. I am disappoint.

uggghh.. blarf. <wipes mouth> ah yes, you were saying?

I once went to a restaurant in NYC, where there is never any parking (Drove from the land of no public transit, 3 hours away). Had a valet take the car, which I never do. When we finish dinner and come to get the car, Valet is nowhere to be found. Finally got one’s attention, and wait 1/2 hour. Ends up the car was

Yeah, I can dig it. I think that one of the problems is that the newer VW’s won’t let you lug the engine: they cut out at 800 RPM, so the manual wouldn’t help you that much there. The older models don’t have that problem, so if you have to lug a little bit, you’re still OK, and the gearing is different in the older 5

May I interest you in a 2000-2006 VW TDI? Small car, easy to upgrade handling, and if you leave it in gear on the way down, you’ll probably get 40 MPG average. Living in the Washington and Oregon, I never had to shift down from 5th even on the steepest passes across the cascades. Don’t have to worry about it getting

Top of the line Mac Pro is 12 cores, not 6.

I’m actually currently in the market for a manual german wagon, to replace my soon to be converted to tin cans Jetta SW, and I can tell you this is bullshit. For that price, you can get a well-sorted BMW 5 series wagon that came from the factory with 3 pedals. Unknown part history, unknown competence of mechanics

Goddamnit, like every used VW/Audi I’m looking at is that crappy “dolphin grey”, which seems to have eclipsed “I’m out of ideas silver.” I want red, green, blue, anything interesting.

They have these in the Gaza Strip. Back when the tunnels were operating, you could actually buy some cars at dealers. But if you wanted a ride for a bit less cash, you’d go to the shady “Souk Siyarra” or car market and get some 1970's peugeot or fintail mercedes, or a Geely that looked like it had rolled for not too

Uhh, what’s with the hood? Brakes aren’t working so well?

Damn you Graverobber, I would have found this eventually. Then in a month I could have gone with money in hand and driven it at least 5 miles away from its current home in Hillsboro, maybe even made it half way to Olympia. Now it will surely be gone before I get the chance. Alas.

I learned on a 1979 Peugeot 504 that my brother had already mostly demolished. I did manage to take out the last few microns of clutch material while coming home from school one day, when I was on a steep hill. It was then sold non-running, but it was my brother who killed the suspension.

You rock, Máté, so sorry to see you go.

I’d like to say I’d drive a Lada Niva over a Camry any day of the week... but you know... I got 2 kids... Makes the decision more complicated. Maybe if it wasn’t my DD. I’ll just stick to used Germans for now I suppose.
